Hit Me With Your Best “Cheap Shot”

by Becky Davidson ~ May 6th, 2008. Filed under: Misc. Columns.

A planned set up went wrong for one team and went great for another. The “Cheap Shot” I am referring to is the one that ended up happening this past Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway.

First, I do want to get this one statement out of the way. At first I was sorry Denny Hamlin did not go on to win the race after breaking the track record and leading 381 laps. It was his home track. At least that was being repeated over by the broadcaster’s until I for one got tired of hearing it. It is not like we do not already know that. We get told the same every time he races at Richmond. I am sure other driver’s from Virginia like Jeff Burton and Elliott Sadler want to win as much as Hamlin as Virginia is their home.

Now back to the “Cheap Shot” I mentioned at the beginning of this commentary. When Hamlin said he felt he had a tire going down it was obvious to each of us that he had something going wrong. WHY was he not told to go low so he could get off the track and come in and pit? Other drivers who feel they have a tire going down don’t wait till it blows, at least they try to. Most driver’s come in even if the spotter and the crew chief say the tire looks okay. A driver knows and Hamlin knew he had a tire issue. It is obvious to me now why he did not move down and stayed on the high side as he struggled around the track below the required speed. Most nuisances are pulled off the track.

Since Hamlin knew he was not going to win the race, he did the next best thing. He stayed out attempting to bring out a caution. No sooner did someone in the broadcast booth make the statement, “a caution is the last thing Dale Jr. does not need to happen now, it happened. Hamlin couldn’t win but he stayed out hoping to cause a caution for his teammate Kyle.

I was happy that their underhanded cheap shot went sour on them. In a article I read in The Charlotte Observer and also posted on a few other web-sites Hamlin stated he did not care about intentionally causing a caution. He said it was no big deal as he wasn’t going to win the race anyway.

You are right Hamlin, a real big NASCAR penalty was bestowed to you. You were held on Pit Row for two laps, big deal. You managed to get a second place win for your buddy Kyle and moved him to # 1 in point standings. In the past when it was obvious as it was Saturday night or admitted like Dale Jr. did a few years back, admitted he did a spinout to bring out a caution he needed, he got slammed with a big fine and points taken away.

Hamlin must be NASCAR’s new Golden Boy Jr. next to Kyle Busch, NASCAR’s Golden Boy Sr. A two lap holdover on Pit Row by NASCAR was a joke. There should have been a black flag brought out soon as his car was not up to the required speed like they do all other drivers. I am not sure who made the decision to tell Hamlin to stay out but it was a cheap move. There certainly was no consideration given to the other drivers who might have been taken out if the tire blew in front of a pack of them.

Hard racing? Oh let someone tell me it was hard racing one more time. It would have been nice to see honest hard racing and a little give and take. Look at the replays fans and see if you can see where Kyle went down low to avoid hitting Dale Jr. like he did in previous turns. You won’t see that even though he had lots of space. He was either going to take Dale Jr. out by hitting him or shoving him up into the wall. He succeeded.

Busch knows he can overdrive his car and take the lead because he has learned well how to use other cars who get in his way as a bumper car. He just knocks them out of the way. He does not give any and takes all he can and then some. He drives like the spoiled brat he is. NASCAR has let him get by with a lot. They apparently are back to wearing blinders where some drivers are concerned. Oh I forgot, they never leave home for a race without their blinders.

There are 42 other drivers on the track racing with Busch and they each want to win. They each could do the very same thing behind the wheel as Busch. Only difference between them and Busch, the majority of them do have respect for each other. I was happy a well laid plan went down the drain and that RCR and Bowyer went on to win the race, his second Cup.

DW, you finally got someone else behind the wheel who should inherit your old nickname “Jaws.” Only difference is, Kyle B is all talk and no action like you use to be. He is not making any friends on the track and he sure is making VERY few with the fans.

Oh I am sure I will hear from those ten fans out there who are fans of one of the most obnoxious drivers on the track racing in this day and time. Busch needs to be taken down a notch or two and the person who I felt might be able to control the monster that Hendrick’s put up with until this season is Joe Gibb’s. He must be looking at this driver through rose colored glasses. I guess it is just one of those ‘whatever it takes to win, do it.’

To each of you gentlemen up in the broadcast booth, the same booth that holds DW and Larry Mac, you continually add fuel to the flame each and every weekend talking about ROWDY as you call him. You usually manage to talk to him pre-race whether you talk with another driver or not. You all love your Rowdy and yep, it shows you are partial. It gets old to the majority of race fans when you continually talk about him before, during and after each race. You talk about how much KB will do anything to win a race. You are right, he does pretty much anything. You all sure need to pump his ego up even more then it already is.

Only thing I can say is thank God for the Car of Tomorrow they are driving this year permanently and the safe wall barriers at the track. With Busch as a fellow driver they need it even more. Nothing ever makes him happy only if he is taking the checkered flag. He gripes even when he gets the checker. He did nothing but gripe about the COT yet he won the first race last year where COT’s were raced.

He needs a good whipping out behind the outhouse. Maybe his parents should have done that before he ever left Vegas for North Carolina. He needs to learn the true meaning of having respect for your fellow drivers on tracks each weekend. As I said it’s sad that Tony Stewart is in the same stable because he probably would have already taught him a thing or two.

Kyle Busch drives and acts just like Dale Sr. exactly the same. Doesn’t care what it takes to win. Doesn’t care what the public thinks.

  2. Lin Hunnicutt

I am glad to see someone who feels the same way that I do about Kyle Bush and the entire Fox broacast team. It was a cheap shot and NASCAR shold have lowered the boom on Denny as well Kyle who intentionally brought out the caution so that Dal would not win. That is not racing, or at least not the racing I grew up with. I hate what DW and the others in the Fox booth do every Sunday because even though Kyle is talented, he is horribly wreckless and I have no use for the baby brat who if he and Steven Wallace would ahve gotten in a fist fight on Friday would have gotten his ass kicked and he needs it and frankly I would love to see Junior do to him what his father used to do to people that would do stuff like that. I hope that Junior or someone else punts him into the rist turn wall at Darlington on Sunday night and if I were driving, I would take the penalty from NASCAR just to have the satisfaction that I took care of a punk, and besides, where is Jummy Spencer when we need him.

  3. ioldealer

Joe …you hit the nail right on the head.Sr got away with it for years and was considered a hero. What happened now????????????

  4. Dutch Schultz

Kyle Bush is a sissy and talks like one too. He definetly needs his [backside] whipped. He is the most reckless driver on the track and is going to hurt someone real bad one day. Denny Hamlin also did a [stupid] move to stop the race,as Jr. had it won all the way. I hope Jr gets a chance to repay both denny and kyle.

  5. lee

YOU’RE tired of hearing ROWDY??? and partiallity toward Kyle Busch??

I’M TIRED OF HEARING JUNIOR NATION!!!! and DW’s favoritism toward JUNIOR!!!! is this NASCAR series, or JUNIOR series???? DW needs to shut his trap, and maybe talk about the other 42 guys out there….HUH????

Kyle is no different than little e’s daddy - he makes watching NASCAR fun again!!!! If all the JUNION NATION fans and driver can’t handle, let him start up his own series, pick his competitors, then he can win all he wants!! I’m sick of JUNIOR NATION fans crying every time someone takes a win from him. Remember how they ranted when Gordon won at daytona and acted like children throwing bottles and cans at Gordon, what a joke!!!!

Kyle did nothing wrong, except race for the win. Would you be make this big stink if it was SOMEONE OTHER than Kyle that was involved? I think not!! Get over it - it was a racing incident, that’s it, they were both going for the win - junior didn’t back off, why should Kyle????

  6. Tugboat

I agree with everything that Lee had to say, I am also tired of hearing Junior this and Junior that. The other thing I noticed and nobody says anything about is in that final lap Junior was doing his best to take Kyles line away by coming down the track and is as much responsible for the accident as anybody.

  7. glenn

I agree with Lee. I AM TIRED OF HEARING JUNIOR NATION! I have been following Nascar for approximately 50 years (yes I am that old.) I think that Kyle is a breath of fresh air to Nascar.
Mark Martin was (is) my all time favorite driver, but he was “too nice” to win a championship; just revisit last years Daytona 500 finish with Harvick. Any oher driver would have “moved” Harvick for the win.

What Kyle did was what any other driver would have done: TRY TO WIN. I agree, that it was just a racing incident and nothing more. NO HARM, NO FOUL!

  8. glenn

In the above post, I should have said “blocked” instead of “moved” in regard to the Daytona 500.

  9. Doloras

I agree with you 100%. Denny H knew what he was doing, and if Kyle couldn’t win fair well by gosh
he would spin Dale Jr. out. It makes me sick, NASCAR should do something to stop drivers from
coming up with their own plan to take other drivers out. Its not fair. I know I know, lifes not fair but please this crap has to stop.

  10. Duard O

Bush is nothing but a skinny little crybaby that doesn’t take racing as the serious sport that we all
do when you wreck as many people as he has it will come back to bite him. some Jr. fan is going to go postal on this punk if he isn’t careful

  11. Kathy

To all of you that think that shrub is the second coming of Big E…you are all so mistaken !! Big E knew how to wheel a car and yup he put his share of drivers out of contention, but he did it like a man, not a wimp with a smirk…shrub will never be half the driver Sr was!!!

  12. Sick O Busch

STOP comparing that whiney little bit%h to Sr. He couldn’t carry his jock and doesn’t have 1/2 of what it takes to back up his smart aleck mouth. Wallace would have pummelled him if he wasn’t strapped in. Also, after denny threw his crew under the bus repeatedly last year, I was THRILLED to see him lose it. He’s a snot nosed little sh&t as well and deserves to be paired with kyle. Run Tony, run - get as far away from JGR as you can so you can help straighten ‘em out.

  13. Paul Schafer

I think KB needs a taste of his own medicine.

  14. The Bear

    Give em hell Baby……….

  15. Donna

First of all there is no comparison between Dale Sr.and Kyle Bush. Kyle Bush needs to be knocked back a few notches. There’s no talent there just plain dumb luck. Both Kyle and Denny Hamlin were wrong, so was Nascar. They penilize teams for being a fraction of an inch off on their car, but to purposely throw a race there’s a minimal penalty. Come on. We all know that Kyle(pee wee herman)Bush has whinned when other drivers have done it to him. As far as the Steven Wallace and pee wee incident, did you see how quickly he(KB) backed up. To me it doesn’t matter whether it was junior, smoke or gordon ect.It was wrong. Kyle Bush is an idiot and shouldn’t be in Nascar if he continues to drive by the seat of his pants instead of his head. Maybe he and Kurt Bush should go back to driving school, seems they both can’t get their s**t together, must be in the genes!!!

  16. NBRaceFan

Wow Jr cant win a race and the “JR Nation” has to blame someone else. Last year it was the “evil” step mother or the quality of the cars. Before that it was another excuse. Now Jr is with Hendrick in great equipment and has a great team same results what is the common equation?? JUNIOR. Junior is a good race car driver but he is NOT YET a great one. He is not entitled to win any race he is not so special that other drivers should try and not win so he can. Junior does bear a HUGE part in how his fans behave because they take their cues from him. Despite what the Jr fans think their man does not walk on water nor is he or any driver ENTITLED to win. ITS RACING and the car that crosses the finish line first wins PERIOD. IF you blow a tire get spun or your engine blows up it sucks for you but thats the sport. Flat our that win WAS NOT JUNIOR’S any more then it was DENNY’S. The win belongs to the car across the finish line first.

  17. GAA

Saturday night wasn’t a cheap shot, it was a racing incident. If Jr had been the one on the inside, it would have been all right, heck Sr used the same move himself. All last year all your heard was Jr, Jr, Jr………… he isn’t the only driver out there. He may have the largest fan base, but thats because of his last name. If any of the other drivers were given as much attendtion as Jr, there fan base would grow, who know might get even larger than Jrs. I am glad another very talented driver is taking air time away from him. KB is what NASCAR has needed, go for the win at all cost.

  18. LC

You are 100% correct with this article, and as you said you are hearing from all 10 of Buschs fans. I am tired of Kyle Busch being talked about like he is the next Dale Senior or that he drives just like Senior did. You clowns that think Kyle drives like Dale Senior did, need to watch a few more tapes of old races. Kyle LACKS the finesse that Dale Senior possessed, he is a LOOSE CANNON out there nothing more. The fact that he can drive at all has more to do with luck than any “skill” he might have. He is a punk, a whinny punk at that. Dale Senior was respected not only for his driving ability but for the way he handled himself, and talked about, and to his fellow racers. Kyle Busch has non of these traits nor does he have the respect of his fellow drivers. Any one that compares Kyle Busch to Dale Earnhardt Senior is out to lunch and needs to read up on the man. If Kyle ever grows up, I have no doubt he will be a good driver, I doubt he will EVER be Great (ie Dale Senior) All that being said I don’t believe Kyle wrecked Jr on purpose, he did drive in there too deep and run out of luck, notice I didn’t say he ran out of “talent” because he has non.One more thing, too bad Jimmy Spencer isn’t still driving, he could give Kyle the same lesson he gave his brother. Ive said enough about “Rowdy” or “Shrub” or “Idiot” or whatever he is best known by.

  19. h proctor

kyle did nothing wrong what race was you watching??? he does something wrong each and every race the brat is going to hurt someone let him try something with robby or juan see how far he can get around the track then!!! as for denny i’m glad he fell at the game to bad he didn’t break some thing both need to be put on suspension as for holy joe i have no respect for him what a loser hope tony can make it out of there keep your wheels turning right and someone will get ya when wheels are turn right that is no “racing incident”

  20. glenn

Did ANYONE understand the “rambling rant” that h proctor just submitted?

  21. Mike Irwin

Actually, Glenn, I do. Must be from all my years of dealing with computer users for my real job.

  22. Lefty

wow the only defense for shrubs ignorance and driving over his head is he drives like Sr.? How rediculous! Anyone that has 2 eyes can see he has a win at all cost attitude, and i believe in the end it will cost him. There have been many drivers through the years that have driven just like him and eventually their fellow drivers showed them the error of their ways (Ernie Ervin is a good example). I believe that this is Kyles fate, don’t be surprised if Mr.Bush starts getting caught up in “unexpected racing accidents of his own”, the drivers have a way of convincing loose canons how they should conduct them selves on the track. I think the real issue is that this isnt the only time with shrub it seems to be every race he takes out at least one fellow driver and believe me drivers don’t forget who wronged them. Awful tough to run for a cup when everyone on the track is purposely working against you. Just a thought.

  23. Joe

Ok SHRUB???? What does that mean?

  24. Mike Irwin

“Shrub” is a nickname for Kyle…

Big brother Kurt Busch came to Cup first, then Kyle…

    Shrub = “little Busch”.

  25. eman

I’m a Jr fan, and I was highly upset at the way the end of the race went. My problem isn’t that KB and JR bumped and JR got the short end of the stick. My problem is the way that KB has no regard for anyone else. I would have been pissed at KB for that move if it had been Gordon (either one) or Petty or anyone else that I don’t root for every week. For DW and the rest of the Fox Team to sing KB’s praises just encourages him. He needs to be smarter. He’s very talented behind the wheel, but his problem is that he’s too hot headed. Has anyone seen the movie “Grandma’s Boy”? KB looks and acts just like that Tron of a computer programmer. Lots of talent, no people skills at all, and just rubs everyone the wrong way. My problem isn’t that KB screwed up JR’s win, because it was a mistake. My problem is that KB takes out anybody and everybody as he feels like it. He admitted as much in his comments after the incident with Wallace on Friday night. I really wish Wallace had gotten out of his car and decked KB. That’s exactly what the kid needs.

  26. Eddy19975

You say that Denny Hamlin action was a cheap shot?

I believe that he was merely trying to stay on the lead lap and there by secure a good finish for his team.

You say that his action was a deliberate attempt to alther the outcome of a race. Maybe it was and maybe it was cheating.

But, being the Jr. fan that you are, you’ve obviously forgotten that the would be Crown Prince of NASCAR, intentionally spun himself out a couple of years back to keep himself on the lead lap and get adjustments to his obviously ill handling car.

You probably won’t agree that they amount to the same thing. But, they do. Earnhardt Jr. is just as much a cheat as you are painting Hamlin to be.

Finally, everyone is waiting for Jr.s payback to Busch. If there’s a payback involved in this whole thing, it was payback from Busch to Jr. for the Spinning by Earnhardt of Busch at Kansas last year.

Another thing, of course, that you probably don’t remember.

  27. Sick O Busch

No, they certainly do not amount to the same thing. What Jr did at Bristol (?) a few years back was early in the race. Plus, he was penalized for it. What denny did changed the outcome of the race - period.
denny and dumbo deserve each other, Tony doesn’t. Anyone think Tony will be a teammate of frick and frack next year has another thing coming. Heck, I’ll bet he can’t wait to line those two numbskulls up in his sights or give Mikey a go at ‘em.

  28. Kathy

ROTFLMAO at denny and dumbo and frick and frack!! Very well put!!

  29. RDW

If KB will wreck his brother to win then he will wreck anyone. (last year in the allstar) As far as the RIR race, how can we (EARNHARDT NATION) be so upset. We all know he is a dumb @$$ and expect it about every race. He doesnt do it to win he just does it because thats all he can do.

For those of you who keep mentioning Kansas last year, do you remember when KB forgot to slow down for a caution last year and slammed into the back of Jr on a straight stretch. (I think it was at Charlotte)

Kyle Bush wrecks people and everyone knows it so we might as well get used to it since NASCAR or anyone else obviously isnt going to do anything about it. It just happened to be Jr this time is why its so BIG.

  30. Eddy19975

Of course you don’t think so, sick o busch, you’re so blinded by your allegiance to Jr. that you can’t see beyond the end of your nose.

    Have a nice day

  31. Dave in Indy

I will comment on 3 themes from the VERY interesting race at RIR

Hambone causing the yellow - Sick O Bush mentioned that Lil E got penalized for his actions. He did. But truthfully he wouldn’t have gotten dinged for it but he opened his big (stOOpid) mouth and bragged about it after the race.

The wreck - In all actuality, it was a racin’ deal. Lil E came down and KB got lose / went up. Rewind your DVR’s to the laps before that, Lil E ran the top and I mean the TOP. On the lap of the wreck, going into Calamity Corner, Lil E dove down and was well below the middle of the track. I think that if Lil E would have stayed where he should have been, KB would have still got loose and Lil E would have been long gone. I think Lil E squeezed harder because Kb squeezed him hard coming off of 2.

Comparing KB to Ironhead. Dale did not care if his wrecks looked intentional or not. KB at least tries to make it look like an accident, no matter what. The list of folks wrecked by Dale is huge. He was once paid appearence money to compete in one race in a Late Model series in the late 80’s. He stuffed the points leader early in the race (and destroyed his ride). At the end of the race he was second and all over the leader. He was told by series officials that if he as much touched the leader, he would forfeit his appearnce money. He didn’t touch him. :)

  32. Becky

I commend many of you who assumed in your replies that I am a Dale JR fan. I do not believe that I said I was a fan of JR’s or a fan of any particular driver in my commentary. I guess you figure I have to be a Dale JR fan and part of the JR Nation to write a commentary this racing incident. I am taking up for JR for he is too kind and too much of a gentleman as he once again showed in the post Cup race interview Saturday night.

I would take up for any driver who got the ole shaft this past Saturday night, even if it had been Kyle…well, second thought, nah. I would not take up for him and his arrogant ways and a handful of other drivers who push one too many buttons sometimes.

As far as the comments that are trying to compare Dale SR who I will always be a fan of with the likes of Kyle Busch is like comparing sweet cherries (Dale SR) and (Sour grapes) for Kyle B. Busch could never have ever held a candle to Dale Earnhardt and you can carry that to the bank.

One of these days like KB said post the Nationwide race, “you mess with the bull, you will get the horns.” Well if he does not change his ways he will be de-horned if there is such a word but I know for a fact it can done. Steven had it right when he said KB came up to his car post race and acted like a little like about it. Once again he acted like the spoiled brat he is.

  33. Daniel Schmittou

I’ll lay it out plain and simple. Kyle Busch is a disgrace to Nascar and its fans. This guy is out of control. Much like his brothers earlier traits lil shrub needs parked before something happens or someone crashes him, and he certainly has it coming. Is it just me or do y’all see the same BS his brother first brought forth? I’d hate to see another driver get penalized for setting this punk straight. He reminds me of another rowdy driver named Dale Earnhardt who wasn’t exposed to the rules of Nascar today.

I truly expect Kyle to be “punted” thru out the season as he doesn’t seem to mind who he wrecks. I as you did saw the SportsCenter replays where he was still turning right into Dal Jr. as the wreck started. Jr. nation won’t be impressed I assure you. Nor the common fan fan. I’m from the south so we are used to this stuff. The left coast fans may be surprised at these shenanigans. Trust me pay back is coming. Kyle you are out of control and we as fans are starting to hate you. Maybe Hendrick MotorSports saw something we didn’t. Thats why you no longer ride with the best. Change your attitude or find another vocation.

  34. LW

Anyone who doesn’t think Kyle is a talented driver, is blinded by their dislike for him. He possesses all of the talent, ability, and car control in the world.
He is good enough and fast enough, to win a lot of races and maybe even championships. Which is precisely why he doesn’t need to be a Bodine.

Was there anyone who did NOT know he was going to hit Junior? Just as he has hit everyone who has been in his way in the CTS and Nationwide Series’. If it weren’t such a pattern, you might chalk it up to a racin’ deal. But, folks he does this all the time.

NASCAR decided to “let the boys be boys,” this year. He is their poster child. You can tell by all of the excitement the guys in the booth try to manufacture around him. I wonder if they have a clue as to just how gagging it truly is? And, you can also tell just by the mere fact that he has been allowed to drive like an absolute maniac in 3 series’, without any consequences.

Earnhardt-haters, are always going to be Earnhardt haters. They hated Dale and they hate Junior. Fine. But, to try to say that Junior “moved,” and caused this wreck, is really a reach. He had been driving that exact same line, lap after lap, after lap.
But, even that isn’t as much of a reach as comparing Busch-league to Big E. Yes, Kyle is talented, no doubt. Yes, he has ability, he has car control, and he’s fast.
A couple of things he does not have, and never will, are class, and respect both FOR and FROM his fellow drivers. Making the comparison ridiculous.

    Becky, your column is spot-on.

    LW

  35. Deborah

As to Junior spinning himself purposely to get a caution - he did it, he admitted it, it was early in the race and did not affect the outcome, and he was penalized money and points. Other drivers have intentionally created cautions and been penalized money and points.

Denny Hamlin purposely created a caution Saturday night that dramatically altered the outcome of the race and he got nothing but held for two laps; about the same he would have lost if he had pitted as soon as he knew he had a flat. That was a cheap shot. Becky nailed that one.

Kyle’s action could have been just a racing deal; depends on your perspective. But the boy ruins any admiration I might have for his talent by opening his mouth and disrespecting everyone on the track, in the stands or watching on TV. He told us Friday night after the dust-up with Steven that “I don’t care. I’ll wreck as many cars as I have to.” He says Saturday he wouldn’t be a racer if he didn’t push hard for the win, but anyone who races him the same way, like Steven did, is “…gonna get hurt.”

  36. RevJim

I’m still wondering why there wasn’t so much outrage when Junior moved in front of the faster moving second line at Talladega and caused several cars that were contenders to wreck?

  37. h proctor

don’t conpare that brainless idiot to dale if earnhardt hit ya he owed up to it he was the man some thing kyle will never be!!!! his fellow drivers looked up to him and let dale do the talking who does it now? nascar is going down hill so fast losing more fans each week they better wake up

  38. Roland

Hey all are saying there is no exicitement with the COT so it has to come from the drivers, gives us some reason to tune in we get to listen to an idiot commintator (DW) and watch hard charging racing and the things that go with it.

  39. Donnie

Dale Sr. had respect for others both on and off the track,he gave what he got,ie..hit me once I’ll hit you twice, there is NO comparison to a schrub that doesn’t give anyone a chance to hit him once,He’ll get his,Twice.

  40. bubbagump

    BRING BACK JIMMY SPENCER!!!!

  41. Chuck A

Kyle Busch has a long way to go to be Dale Sr. Silver spoon in mouth? Kyle over drove the corner and got loose, cut right (it is obvious on the replay) and hit Jr. who was slightly pinching Kyle down making it tough for him to race Jr off the corner. It was hard racing and just too darned bad it had to happen that way because the race to the finish would have been better. Hamlin deserved the penalty.

  42. Dave Exner

I am no longer interested in the IRL and their program and I am becoming less and less interested in the NASCAR fixed races of late, but soon, real race fans will be treated to real racing on SPEEDTV when they show the 410 winged sprint cars on dirt tracks. Real racing is returning to TV finally. Stuff the IRL, stuff Nascar, watch the sprint cars on the dirt bullrings and you won’t miss NASCRAP or the Indy Racing Parade…………

  43. becki4jb

It seems to me Jimmy Spencer is a Kyle fan. I mean, I know he doesn’t approve of some of his driving, but he believes Kyle has talent. So, I think some of you don’t realize Jimmy grew up the last several years, too. He even likes Kurt. Amazing, I know!!! But that is from Jimmy Spencers mouth ~

For all those who wish Kyle to get his [backside] kicked, I understand. But, I do believe that you have to catch him first. I mean, he does sorta finish ahead of a lot of drivers this year. I have noticed a difference in driving this year with Kyle. He has been a lot more aggressive. I do think a lot of it has to do with NASCAR’s new policy of letting the drivers be more themselves, and JGR’s policy of not taming the drivers they employ. I feel Kyle has found a certain amount of freedom this year, and as a 23 year old, needs to learn how to use it. If he does what is right, he’ll become a champ. If not, he’ll become a Bodine or Spencer.

Thank you sooooo much for putting into words exactly how I felt after the race. I too had hoped Denny would win after leading so many laps, but when he stayed out for several laps after knowing his tire was going down in order to cause a caution and help his team mate KB (aka IDIOT), I don’t care if Denny ever wins another race. If it weren’t for the safe barriers at tracks, and all the safety features now implemented in the cars, IDIOT would have killed many drivers by now. DW, I’m tired of listening to you and IDIOT. This year might determine if I get tired of NASCAR too……………..!!!

Heck, face it all you “jr. nation” sissys. Go Kyle Go is the personification of Dale Sr. on the track. KB is by far the best driver and can handle one of those behemoth cars better than any one else. I love to hear you cry baby Jr. fans. Its evident you never saw the senior Earnhardt on a race track. Your bandwagon teeny boppers who can’t stop crying. GO MARK.
