Will Carl Edwards get off Scott(s) free? (UPDATED)

NASCAR: March 7 Kobalt Tools 500“Brad knows the deal between him and I. The scary part was his car went airborne, which was not at all what I expected. At the end of the day, we’re out here to race and people have to have respect for one another and I have a lot of respect for people’s safety. I wish it wouldn’t have gone like it did, but I’m glad he’s OK and we’ll just go on and race some more. Maybe him and I won’t get in anymore incidents together. That would be the best thing.” — Carl Edwards after apparently deliberately wrecking Brad Keselowski in the Kobalt Tools 500

“To come back and intentionally wreck someone, that’s not cool. [Carl] could have killed someone in the grandstands. And I know it’s a little ironic he’s got me saying that, but at least I didn’t do it intentionally.” — Brad Keselowski after flying his #12 Dodge into the wall after an apparent deliberate tap from Carl Edwards

“My options: Considering that Brad wrecks me with no regard for anyone’s safety or hard work, should I: A-Keep letting him wreck me? B-Confront him after the race? C-Wait til Bristol and collect other cars? or D-Take care of it now? I want to be clear that I was surprised at his flight and very relieved when he walked away. Every person has to decide what code they want to live by and hopefully this explains mine.”

  • M. L. Barnes says:

Brad Keselowski has beat and banged his way thru Nationwide and Sprint for three years. He got what was coming to him. Edwards was wrong but someone had to do something. NASCAR didn’t reprimand Keselowski. Jr. Motor Sports got rid of him. That should tell you something.

  • chuck says:

Yes he did. And now the bar has been set.

  • Randy Feldman says:

What do you know, NASCAR did something right for a change.

  • Mike Irwin says:

Well, he basically got off Scott(s) free in my opinion. 3 race probation is a very limp slap on the wrist.

  • Momule1 says:

No matter who it is If any Driver uses intentional aggression and causes damage or Injury to person or property of any kind should. Be Sanctioned And severely Punished by Nascar.
This is crap on Carl Edwards Part Or any other driver That chooses to Disregard the personal out come of his Actions.
I support Carl as a Fan I only live 50 miles from him and have saw him many times on all of our local dirt tracks.
I have friends that have Cars that I help with Pit duties.
He wasnt like this before he went Nascar, Since nascar he has the big headed Idea that He`s better and above anybody else. Carl knew better than do his stupidity here locally. If he had of pulled this Stunt here at the home tracks, He`d have gotten his *** Kicked and he Knew it. Carl needs to work on his Alter Ego problem.

  • P.J. says:

This is crazy. Any of you that think Carl Edwards ac is acceptable should go back to watching Championship Wrestling or better yet sent to the Middle East! Violence begets violence folks! And we still haven’t heard as much as a peep from NASCAR! (questionable comment removed by editor) I can tell you this if they let Carl off with only a one race suspension that will be it for me supporting the sport. In fact, I’m close to gone already. That knucklehead Ron has it all wrong, NASCAR has put it to MOPAR ever since they banned the 426 Hemi. The Chevy and Ford guys have been the biggest bunch of cry babies since then. The proof is in the field, what was there a grand total of 3 Chrysler products in a 44 car field? Wake up!

  • J.J. says:

Carl knows he was way out of bounds and NASCAR will put him in his place,Brad did what the right thing on the 1st encounter, but come back from 130 or so laps down and try 3 times to get payback…..What was Carl thinking???????

  • lyle says:

I think any fans that get hurt should be able to sue the track, nascar and the drivers! Some poor joe or jill doesnt need to leave thier kid an orfan so these guys can pay each other back. Knock his head off after the race, dont kill the fans.

  • cameron says:

    carl edwards is an idiot.

  • Rich in INDY says:

1st thing Brad didn’t wreck Carl in the 1st place. They went into the turn 3 wide Carl in the middle. Brad keeped his car on line, right on the yellow line ,Carl was in the middle trying to pass Brad. Carl hadn’t cleared Brad’s front bumper before trying to come down in front of Brad. Carl should have stayed in his lane longer before coming down in front of Brad. had he done that there wouldn’t have been a wreck in the 1st place. Carl causeed his own wreck then said Brad caused it so he (Carl Edwards) wouldn’t look like the “IDIOT” he has become. Nascar should put him in timeout for 1 race each in Nationwide, Sprint and Truck. Maybe then he will learn something about how to race. Make sure you have passed a car before cutting down in front of it.

  • These guys have got to realize their not in bumber cars
anymore. At 180-190 mph is no time to try to prove a
point! someone could real easly get killed, and that I’m
sure would stay with them the rest of their lives. Grow
up boys! Wait until you’re out of the darn cars before you
start hitting one another… then go for it! Who cares.

  • roger says:

its about time someone got him steven wallace should be next

  • N Taylor says:

Hey! That’s racing ‘if you can’t stand the heat stay out of the kitchen’. I think the ‘kid’ needs to learn he can’t make a name for himself trying to shove Carl Edwards around. Maybe now he will see the error of his was and back off. Carl just returned what BK’s attention in spades. You go for it Carl!!!!!!

  • Paul says:

Wrong Ron. In 2002 Kevin Harvick (a chevy driver) was suspended for 1 cup race for wrecking Coy Gibbs in a truck race. That kind of blows your Ford thery out of the water.Carl took a big chance at a super speedway and could have caused a lot of damage and hurt people instead of waiting 2 weeks for Bristol where he could have gotten away with it. He needs to be set down 1 race.

  • Ron says:

Carl drives a Ford, NASCAR and its pro Chevrolet/Dodge/Pontiac stance since the 60′s has always hammered the Fords, Ford has always had the car to beat, The Childress, Hendrick, Earnhart free pass to do anything will always prevail, and NASCAR will protect them and their drivers. Jack Roush runs a operation that is unexcelled, and NASCAR is slowly losing their fans. Politics and so-called safety has ruined the sport.

  • Donnie Glover says:

People forget Junior turned Bryan Vicker in front of the field at Daytona last year. What did Nascar do to him?

  • Eric Starr says:

I love it they need to let them loose maybe throw some punches after the race like in the old days.

  • Randy Feldman says:

Payback’s a *****. NASCAR should have clipped BKs wings last year. Hamlin is chipping in on the fine!

  • chuck says:

UNder the guise of NASCAR’s new “let them play” policy, it will be interesting to see how they deal with this first issue.
