NASCAR Champ Bobby Labonte to Race for NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Title

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 9, 2018) –  The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is about to get some American flavor. Bobby Labonte, the first driver to win championships in two different NASCAR national series, will compete fulltime in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2018 in hopes of adding an international title to his Hall of Fame-worthy career. Darlington Pulls Highest Labor Day Weekend Ratings in Eight Years

The Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway pulled in the sport’s highest Labor Day weekend overnight in eight years. NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Darlington drew a 3.4 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night (and 8.82 million viewers), up 13% from the comparable Atlanta races last year and in 2013 (3.0 both years).

Carl Edwards Surprises With a Win at Darlington

Coming from 2 laps down early in the race, Carl Edwards went on to win the Southern 500. I guess you can ask him if he likes the new low downforce package. Or not Not only was it low downforce car, but Goodyear brought a softer tire that gave up faster. Win #2 Makes For A Very Happy Harvick

Kevin Harvick made a 4 tire stop pay off to win his second race of the year and his first Southern 500. But it almost did not pay off after he led a whopping 237 of 374 laps. Upon taking the checkered flag on the final lap, he finished leading 238 total laps for a total of 63.6% laps. Those are darn near Jimmie Johnson style numbers.
