Recently, I was asked if I would like to try out some beef jerky from Old Trapper. Why, yes…. yes, I would.
One of the first things I do when I get a product is to check out the ingredients. I have to watch my salt intake due to high blood pressure, so a lot of meat snacks are out of bounds for me. I was pleased to see that the Old Trapper teriyaki beef jerky only contained 530mg. of sodium. Now, that’s not a small number, but compare to some of the other similar products by other vendors, it’s half as much.
I really liked the taste of the teriyaki jerky. It was not overly strong in taste (a plus for me), and had a very moist, chewy texture to it. As an additional note, @franklinthefatcat (my 18lb. rescue tuxedo house cat) loved this jerky also. I will definitely purchase some more of the teriyaki flavor, and also try their regular flavor.
The Old Trapper peppered jerky does contain a bit more sodium, at 650mg. It also contains a lot more zing, due to the pepper. I have mild tastes, so it was a little too spicy for me, but those of you who are fans of spicy-style foods will really enjoy it. The taste is flavorful underneath the pepper seasoning.
My conclusion is that if you are looking for a tasty jerky, you ought to try Old Trapper brand jerky. You can check them out at their website.
