One of the Northeast’s most promising up & coming young talents, Jake Trainor, topped off a dream season, winning the NEMA Lites Championship, and taking down both the NEMA and Lites victories at the New-London Waterford Speedbowl this past Saturday evening. Randy Cabral finished 4th in the NEMA feature, good enough for him to capture his 8th championship, and the 10th overall for Bertrand Motorsports.

Corliss Nearing Challenge Cup Title as Weekly Seasons Wind Down
Waterbury, VT — The final scenes are being staged in the inaugural American-Canadian Tour (ACT) New England Late Model Challenge Cup. Although the championship picture has cleared up, plenty can still be decided in the race for more than $17,000 in point fund money plus contingency prizes from Port City Racecars, ARBodies, and Five Star Race Car Bodies.

WATERFORD — Todd Owen led the most laps in Saturday’s Fast 5 SK Modified feature. Tim Jordan, however, led the important ones.
He took the lead from Owen with 18 laps remaining on a restart and held off a furious Owen charge on the final laps to win by 0.138 in a 50-lap feature that honored two racing legends, George Summers and Rick Somers. (more…)

WATERFORD —There’s an old cliché that says if you don’t learn from history, you’re destined to repeat it.
Cory DiMatteo of Farmington learned his history lesson on Aug. 28 in the SK Modified Fast Five at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. He selected the inside groove on a restart with seven laps to go and wound up finishing second to Andrew Molleur. (more…)

WATERFORD — Chuck McDonald came into Wednesday’s final X-Car feature with two things — a four-point lead in the standings and a game plan.
