Heading into the racing weekend Timmy Solomito of Islip and his family were planning on competing in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series event in Connecticut, however circumstances beyond Timmy’s control prevented that road trip. With a car ready to race at the Solomito family shop, they instead made the short jaunt to Riverhead Raceway, a decision that paid dividends when Timmy won the 50-lap NASCAR Modified feature at his home track.

Two For TK Twin Figure Eights, Fireworks Highlight “I Love America Night” Saturday At Riverhead Raceway
Another exciting family fun night is set for this Saturday August 12th, with Riverhead Raceway owners Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz celebrating I Love America Night with a Fireworks extravaganza. The Fireworks compliment the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series race program featuring the Two for TK, Twin Figure Eight feature events honoring Tom Kraft who passed away on July 29th.
Late Race Pass Earns Justin Brown Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified Victory
The NASCAR Modifieds returned to Riverhead Raceway after a mid-summer vacation Saturday, and they did not disappoint with Justin Brown of Manorville perfectly executed a late race pass on Michael Rutkoski of Mattituck to win the 50-lap feature event. The win was made especially sweeter for Brown who had recently lost his ride on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Throw in some midweek mayhem featuring a School Bus Demolition Derby, grassroots stock car racing on a beautiful summer evening and the result is a packed house Wednesday night at Riverhead Raceway. Among the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series winner during the midweek special were Rhett Fogg of Westhampton in the Street Stocks, Reid Halpin of Wading River in the Bock Auto Bandolero Bandits and Ben Morabito of Miller Place in the Bock Auto Bandolero Outlaws.

Just minutes after Saturday night racing at Riverhead Raceway was canceled due to weather, the Long Island racing family was rocked with the news of the passing of “TK” Tom Kraft, 64. Kraft passed away Saturday morning, complications from a heart episode suffered on Monday.

Bertuccio Returns To Riverhead Modified Victory Lane, Grennan Rules Crate Mod 100
Nearly 16 years to the day, JR Bertuccio of Centereach returned to NASCAR Modified victory lane Saturday when he led wire to wire in a non-stop 50-lap feature at Riverhead Raceway. Rising driving talent Chase Grennan of Glen Cove scored a clean sweep in the Eagle Chevrolet 100 for the Crate Modifieds for his third win of 2023 after setting fast time in qualifying.

On a night where Riverhead Raceway celebrated it’s 73rd birthday and saluted a racing icon Fred Harbach with a 73-lap NASCAR Modified event, Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead reached icon status of his own. Rogers took his 63rd career victory tying him with the late “Charging” Charlie Jarzombek at the top of the all-time win list.
Figure Eight Family Feud Returns To Riverhead Raceway Saturday For Fireworks Spectacular
For decades the popular game show Family Feud has filled television airwaves, mainly in repeats. For over half a century Figure Eight racing has thrilled fans at Riverhead Raceway. When the Figure Eights return for their first race since mid-May Saturday, the starting grid will resemble an episode of Family Feud, minus Steve Harvey. The Figure Eights will be part of the 73rd Year Celebration Saturday, complete with a Fireworks spectacular.
