Coming into the final month of racing at Riverhead Raceway Saturday night defending Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead had two goals on his mind. Try and go out and win the 50-lap feature event for long time team member Pete “Fuzzy” Jones who passed away earlier in the week and also continue his streak of at least one victory for the 18th consecutive race season. This past Saturday, the Northeastern rolled into the Oswego Speedway for the first time in nearly eight years. The wheel-to-wheel action of the midgets did not disappoint, topping speeds of over 135MPH at “The Big O”. John Zych triumphed after and intense battle with Matt O’Brien, and Jake Trainor came through the field to take down the NEMA Lites victory in thrilling fashion with three laps to go in the Feature event.

The 26-year-old opened his Labor Day holiday weekend by winning at Brewerton (N.Y.) Speedway and clinching that track’s Sportsman Modified championship on Friday night, and he wrapped it up by capturing the Fabian Earth Moving Vermont 200 and pocketing $12,942 in winnings on Sunday. N. Woodstock, NH — Conway, NH’s Gabe Brown remained on fire at North Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park by triumphing in the Leaf Peepers 100 on Saturday, September 4. Brown took the lead from Foley Oil & Propane Late Model point leader Jimmy Renfrew Jr. with 12 laps remaining and then beat out Graniteville, VT’s Stephen Donahue in a wild and wooly finish to earn his second win in a row.
