If you watch Talladega racing at all, you know that just about anyone can win the event due to the style of racing. If you watched on Sunday, Kyle Busch was probably not one of the drivers you picked to win. Ross Chastain continued an incredible 2022 as the third driver to become a first time winner this season. Things weren’t looking all that rosy for the driver with the most wins this season. Even after winning Stage 2, Kyle Larson fell back a few seconds of the leaders. But two late race cautions turned things around. With Chase Elliott leading, a caution bunched up the field and put Larson back in contact with the leaders but he still didn’t have the speed and clean air Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex, Jr. enjoyed.
