Just over a month removed from his career defining victory in the Miller Lite Salutes Don Howe 200 NASCAR Whelen Modified event in late May, fourth generation driver Mark Stewart of Riverhead notched another signature event win when he topped the Flying Dutchman Tribute 76 Friday night at Riverhead Raceway. The race run honoring the iconic Fred Harbach was the first leg of the five race 2026 Crown Jewel Series for the Ted Christopher Cup that concludes with the 10th annual Islip 300 in November.

Chase Grennan Celebrates High School Graduation With Riverhead Raceway Flying Dutchman 75 NASCAR Modified Victory
The last weekend of June 2025 will forever standout as a special one for Chase Grennan of Glen Cove as just hours after graduation high school, Chase went on to score a clean sweep of the “Flying Dutchman” 75 NASCAR Modified event Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway. The 2024 Islip 300 winner set fast time in qualifying and promptly led all 75-laps of the race celebrating the late Fred Harbach and 75th Anniversary of Riverhead Raceway.

Saturday evening, those memories will be feted during the 75th Anniversary Celebration complete with a Fireworks extravaganza to mark the milestone. On track action features the “Flying Dutchman” tribute 75 for the NASCAR Modifieds, honoring and celebrating the racing career and life of Fred Harbach, one of the most popular figures ever to race Riverhead Raceway.

A late race caution flag with four laps left shuffled the deck Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway in The Flying Dutchman 90 NASCAR Modified event and when the dust settled John Beatty Jr. of Merrick master the late race restart to capture a milestone 10th career win. A strong field of 27 Tour Type Modifieds turned out for the race celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Fred Harbach’s winning the final race of his career leading to the track championship on September 19th,1992. Riverhead Raceway Celebrating 30th Anniversary Of Fred Harbach’s 1992 Championship With The Flying Dutchman 90 Saturday June 4th
It was a magical night September 19th, 1992 at Riverhead Raceway with an ending not even the best Hollywood script writer could have ever imagined. Prior to the ’92 NASCAR Modified season at Riverhead Raceway, Harbach, then 55 announced that year would be the last of his storied 40 plus year driving career. In typical “Flying Dutchman” fashion Fred not only went out and won his final race but sewed 1992 NASCAR Modified championship to boot in his final race. (more…)
