Tony Stewart’s all-star summer racing series is moving to ESPN and a new night as the network plans to use SRX to revitalize its “Thursday Night Thunder.”
ESPN said Monday it signed a multi-year agreement with Superstar Racing Experience that begins in July. SRX will air on six consecutive [Thursday] nights as “Thursday Night Thunder,” which was ESPN’s branding for motorsports programming that started in the 1980s. (more…)

After racing around the world in a season that began in March, Formula 1 is in the United States this weekend for the second and final time this year. ABC will have a live telecast of the Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix on Sunday, Oct. 23, with coverage from Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET. ESPN’s live telecast of the rain-delayed Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, May 29, averaged 1.4 million viewers, the largest live cable audience for the race on record and the second most-viewed live telecast of the historic race ever. Viewership was up 43 percent over the 2021 edition of the race, which aired on ESPN2 and averaged 977,000 viewers. (more…)
One week after a record-setting audience watched the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship season opener on ESPN, the viewership for Sunday’s live telecast of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix surpassed the week-old record as ESPN’s largest F1 audience since 1995 and the largest on any ESPN network since it returned to the sport in 2018.
