A busy month of September for the NASCAR Modifieds of the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series of Riverhead Raceway intensifies this Saturday September 9th when the Celebrating Chris Young Twin 49’s go to post. Originally slated for July 29th, inclement weather pushed the Twin 49’s to Saturday, joining the Sara Sylvester INEX Legend Race Cars National Qualifier 50.

Figure Eight Family Feud Returns To Riverhead Raceway Saturday For Fireworks Spectacular
For decades the popular game show Family Feud has filled television airwaves, mainly in repeats. For over half a century Figure Eight racing has thrilled fans at Riverhead Raceway. When the Figure Eights return for their first race since mid-May Saturday, the starting grid will resemble an episode of Family Feud, minus Steve Harvey. Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead made a triumphant return to Riverhead Raceway victory lane Saturday when he topped a caution free 50-lap NASCAR Modified feature. The win was the 62nd of Tom’s NASCAR Modified career leaving him just one shy of “Charging” Charlie Jarzombek’s all-time mark of 63. What maybe more concerning for Tom’s competition came in a quick comment the five-time champion made post-race, “we made an adjustment, it’s good, but we can make it better”.

The chase for fourteen 2023 divisional Riverhead Raceway track championships will kick off in spectacular fashion as Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz present opening weekend May 6th & May 7th at the historic quarter mile facility. Seven NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions take the green flag Saturday evening while the next afternoon on Sunday seven more divisions begin their quest for a 2023 driving title. Of the fourteen drivers capturing 2022 championships, twelve are expected to defend this season.

Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville took the lead with 25-laps remaining in the Eddie Partridge 256 Saturday night and drove off his his ninth career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory. The win is the second in as many WMT races in the month of September for Bonsignore who won the September 3rd event at the Oswego Speedway and the late season hot streak has entrenched Justin into the tussle for the 2022 WMT drivers championship. Riverhead Raceway hosted the annual Back To School Monster Truck mid week spectacular Wednesday evening complete with six Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series feature events with Max Handley of Medford topping the list of race winners when he won the 25-lap Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modified event. Jason Agugliaro Returns To Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified Victory Lane Saturday After Six Year Absence
Entering the 2022 NASCAR Modified race season at Riverhead Raceway, Jason Agugliaro of Islip was working to put together his own race car but knew he’d get a very late start to his season. Enter car owner Joe Ambrose who had a seat available in his potent machine and Saturday night the new pairing found victory lane winning the 50-lap feature event.
