Chase Grennan Continues Signature Race Prowess Scoring Clean Sweep Of Cecil Palm Tree 66 At Riverhead Raceway

One thing is becoming abundantly clear with the budding driving career of 18-year-old Chase Grennan of Glen Cove, the bright spotlight of signature NASCAR Modified events at Riverhead Raceway doesn’t intimidate him at all. In fact, he thrives on them and has been dubbed with the moniker “Big Time”. Saturday, the college freshman set fast time and led all but the first lap of the Cecil Palm Tree 66 for his third win of the season, all Crown Jewel Series events for the Ted Christopher Cup. Add his upset win in the 2024 Islip 300 and the only left for “Big Time” Chase to accomplish is to win a 50-lap weekly event.

Saturday’s Cecil Palm Tree 66 Pivotal Race Towards Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified & Crown Jewel Series Championships

The annual Cecil Palm Tree 66 NASCAR Modified event is presented to honor memory of the late Eddie Partridge, a lover of the open wheel machines and the excitement they provided wherever they raced, especially Riverhead Raceway which he, his wife Connie and nephew Tom Gatz purchased in 2015. Saturday when the green flag waves over the field to begin the Cecil Palm Tree 66, the usual open wheel excitement will be ramped up with the 2025 NASCAR Modified and Crown Jewel Series Ted Christopher Cup championships hanging in the balance, just the way Eddie Partridge the Modified fan would have loved.

Rain-Drenched Forecast, Cold Temps Delays Pine Tree State 125 for Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour

Unruly forecasts of rain and cold temperatures forced the postponement of the Pine Tree State 125 for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour to Saturday, October 18. (Alan Ward photo)

Oxford, ME — After yet another week of watching several different weather forecasts over western Maine, Oxford Plains Speedway and Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour officials have made the difficult decision to postpone Sunday’s planned events with continued rain showers on the horizon. The Pine Tree State 125 will now be held on Saturday, October 18 during the PASS 400 weekend.

The change makes for an exciting, late season doubleheader with the originally planned ACT Tri-State Flying Tiger Series as they wrap up their triple crown with the annual 75-lap affair at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Timmy Solomito Repeats In Riverhead Raceway Cecil Palm Tree 66 Wednesday

For the second consecutive season, the Cecil Palm Tree 160 was adversely affected by weather the original date forcing Riverhead Raceway management to reschedule the race run in honor of Eddie Partridge. The race was shifted to Wednesday night, the distance again modified to 66 laps, which was just fine with defending race winner Timmy Solomito of Islip who led all the way scoring his third win of 2024.

Solomito set the tone in qualifying laying down a lap of 11.750 with Mark Stewart and John Beatty Jr. clicking off identical laps of 11.815. It would be Stewart lining-up alongside Solomito as the field took the green from Partridge’s nephew Tom Gatz and daughter Alexis. Solomito, winner of the most recent event at Riverhead winning the Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 on August 17th broke right to the lead with Stewart right behind.

Redemption Podium in Rain-Shorted ACT Pine Tree State Excursion at Oxford

Oxford, ME — The persistent spring rains once again aggravated officials, teams and fans of the American-Canadian Tour during the start to the 2024 season on their return to Oxford Plains Speedway. While early morning rains dried off, grey clouds returned just after the halfway point of the American-Canadian Tour special and added area-wide lightning threats pushed both ACT and Oxford Plains officials to end the program early with the ACT Pine Tree State event official after completing 65 of the originally scheduled 125 laps. Barre, VT — After starting off the season at the largest speedway in New England, the American-Canadian Tour is ready to roll into the State of Maine for the Pine Tree State 125 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday, April 28. After having to cancel this weekend’s opening events due to continued water build-up in the parking areas along Route 26, next weekend’s doubleheader with the Oxford Championship Series on Saturday will serve as the 75th season opener for Oxford Plains Speedway. Timmy Solomito Dominates Cecil Palm Tree 66, John Beatty Jr. Earns First NASCAR Modified Championship At Riverhead Raceway Sunday

Despite mother nature’s best efforts to halt Championship Night at Riverhead Raceway, track owners Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz finally found success Sunday afternoon with six track champions earning 2023 titles. The Cecil Palm Tree 66 NASCAR Modified event was dominated by Timmy Solomito of Islip who earned his fourth win in six weekly starts this season. John Beatty Jr. of Merrick would ride a third-place tally in the 66 to the 2023 NASCAR Modified championship, the first of his career.
