Entering the 2020 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Series season at Riverhead Raceway one of the most anticipated aspects of the original race schedule put forth by track management was the announcement of a four race Crown Jewel Series for the NASCAR Modifieds. Waterbury, VT — After a one-year delay, The New England Late Model Challenge Cup (NELMCC) is finally debuting in 2021 — and it will be even bigger than originally planned. American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials confirmed today that nine tracks have signed up for the first season of the series that will pit weekly Late Model racers from across the region in a summer-long battle for pride, glory, and some serious prize money. Finally, there are two Family Fun Events scheduled this season. The first one is slated for Sunday, May 23rd, and will feature Spectator Drags, Ladies Enduro, Truck/SUV Enduro, and Round 1 of the Compact Enduro Championship. New this season, the top 10 finishers in each event of this five-race series will earn points towards a championship that will be crowned at Smacktoberfest. There will be three other events held on Saturdays during the season for the Compact Enduro cars.
The asphalt oval, located in Waterford, Connecticut, will mark the second stop in the Nutmeg state, as the first will come in the season-opener as part of the NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway on April 24. (more…)
