Timmy Solomito Repeats In Riverhead Raceway Cecil Palm Tree 66 Wednesday
For the second consecutive season, the Cecil Palm Tree 160 was adversely affected by weather the original date forcing Riverhead Raceway management to reschedule the race run in honor of Eddie Partridge. The race was shifted to Wednesday night, the distance again modified to 66 laps, which was just fine with defending race winner Timmy Solomito of Islip who led all the way scoring his third win of 2024.
Solomito set the tone in qualifying laying down a lap of 11.750 with Mark Stewart and John Beatty Jr. clicking off identical laps of 11.815. It would be Stewart lining-up alongside Solomito as the field took the green from Partridge’s nephew Tom Gatz and daughter Alexis. Solomito, winner of the most recent event at Riverhead winning the Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 on August 17th broke right to the lead with Stewart right behind.

The annual Monster Truck Back to School program filled Riverhead Raceway Wednesday evening, during the program Joe Warren Jr. of Ridge was declared the 20-lap Mini Stock winner, while Brandon Hubbard scored his third Truck Enduro win of 2024. After seven action packed stock car events unfolded the KSR Monster Trucks took to the track and did not disappoint. Bad News Travels Fast got the fans on their feet when he slow-rolled his truck.

A large and enthusiastic crowd looked on Wednesday night as Riverhead Raceway presented the annual Back to School Monster Truck spectacular. Prior to the car crushing mayhem, Andrew Farnham of Baldwin won his second Mini Stock event of 2023, while Mason Goodale scored his second win of the season in the 15-lap Bock Auto INEX Bandolero feature. The 15-lap Bock Auto INEX Bandolero Outlaw 15-lap event fell to Will Sipala of Manorville, he also enjoying a second win on the season.

The work week was broken up for Long Island race fans with a special midweek program at Riverhead Raceway Wednesday evening with eight feature event presented including a School Bus Demolition Derby. Owen Grennan of Glen Cove topped the 40-lap Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modified event for his third win of 2022, while Sean Glennon of Northport scored his third Super Pro Truck win of the season in a 30-lap tilt. SEEKONK, Mass. – Matt “Big Money” Hirschman lived up to his name once again on Wednesday night, June 29, capturing the top $10,000 prize and winning his fifth Open Wheel Wednesday title at Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts. Competing in the third round of the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series season, Hirschman passed Woody Pitkat for the lead on lap 31 and never looked back, rolling to his second Tri-Track win of the season in three series events.
