Ross Chastain continued an incredible 2022 as the third driver to become a first time winner this season. In a race that saw plenty of drama, Chastain steadily climbed through the field and wound up in an epic battle for the lead between himself and three other drivers during the final laps; Allmendinger, Bowman, and Reddick.
Not all drivers were fans of plans to revamp Atlanta Motor Speedway. The old track was wide and fast and worn out. Drivers liked the racing surface. But it didn’t make for much in the way of entertaining racing so AMS tore it up and replaced with a higher banked, narrower track that provided plenty of side by side action and lots of cars wrecking. If that’s your jam, then you loved the race on Sunday.
SYRACUSE, NY MARCH 12, 2022 . . . Ryan Bartlett of Watertown, NY survived a late collision with challenger Andy Jankowiak then held off Anthony Sesely, who had been leading the feature until having a fuel line problem that forced him to make repairs, and Scott Kreutter earning the win in the 40 lap TQ Midget feature. (Feb. 18, 2022) – A 19-car incident as the field approached the white flag signaling one lap to go instead sent Friday night’s NEXTEra Energy 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway into overtime where 22-year old Californian Zane Smith won under caution over defending series champion Ben Rhodes.
For the second time in his career, Joey Logano won the season opening Busch Clash. This was also the premier race for the new Next Gen car with a composite body and vendor-supplied parts.

Ryan Flores took advantage of a crash 25 laps into the TQ Midget NAPA KNOW HOW Gambler’s Classic 40-lap feature Saturday night that took out leaders Erick Rudolph and Andy Jankowiak, then held off a late race bid on the final lap of the race by Tim Buckwalter to earn his second straight Indoor Auto Racing Series win of 2022 and his second career Gambler’s Classic.
