Instead of hunting Easter eggs, NASCAR Cup Series competitor hunted for a victory with the SMART Modified Tour at South Boston Speedway Saturday. The JTG Daugherty Racing driver took full advantage of his off weekend, scoring the win in the 99-lap event.
NASCAR Cup Series competitor Ryan Preece will be climbing back into a Modified this weekend, competing with the SMART Modified Tour at South Boston Speedway on Saturday. South Boston Speedway announced Berlin, CT’s Ryan Preece’s entry into the event on social media on Wednesday evening.
After returning for four events in 2020, the SMART Modified Tour is preparing for a full season of racing in 2021. A 10-race schedule will see some of the top Modified racers in the southeast compete in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia throughout the year.
Despite six NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championships, you are unlikely to see Doug Coby grace the big stage of a NASCAR national series any time soon. In fact, he says has never fielded an offer for such a ride during his career.
