Lou Modestino’s Track Talk For October 15, 2021

Next Saturday 10/24/21 at 1 pm will put a wrap on the 2021 racing season in New England.  The Halloween Howler at the Seekonk Speedway will host the final and sixth race of the season in the very competitive Tri Track Open Modified Series.

It appears that Matt Hirschman of PA is going to c art off the series championship with a number of record wins in this series as well as other tours numbering 19 victories for the 2021 season as of September 28.
Two drivers that will be attempting a top performance at Seekonk are Richard Savary of Canton, MA and Matt Swanson who steers Mike Boehler’s Old Blue #3 out of East Freetown MA along with Tommy Barrett of Millis, MA and Woody Pitkat of Bellingham, MA.
The event at the Route 6 oval could see a turnout of close to 40 entries as it’s the most popular Modified Tour in the six- state New England area.
On the undercard are the ACT and PASS Tours 100 lappers which could also draw record entries.  Looking to be on top of both 100 lap events is East Bridgewater, MA’s Ryan Kuhn who is always a top five driver wherever he competes in other race series.
His car is sponsored by Everett Auto Parts of Brockton, MA along with several other teams at the Route 6 oval. Twisting the wrenches on both of Ryan’s mounts is his dad Jimmy Kuhn Jr and his grandad Jim Sr.
Woody Pitkat in addition to his prowess in the Modifieds has also done well in the Late Model action at several tracks in New England.
NASCAR’s presence took triple hits this racing season losing the sanction at Stafford Speedway in CT over TV rights,  kicked out of Thompson Speedway as the sanctioning body and no longer sanctioning the Beech Ridge Speedway in Scarborough, ME which was closed last month due to the property being sold to a developer.
Elsewhere the Capeway Rovers track on Plymouth St. on the Carver/Middleboro, MA line off Rt.44 is still going strong in 2021.  That MX track will go Sunday afternoons right up to the middle of November.  In that vein we saw a recent AMA SuperX Schedule in which the coast-to-coast series will be returning to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough in late April of 2022.
The draggers will also see the NHRA coast-to-coast National at New England Dragway in Epping, NH on the weekend of   June 3-5, 2022.
