Nashville, Tennessee (September 10, 2024) – Adding to the excitement of race week, the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix Presented by Gainbridge is pleased to announce a live reading event celebrating the release of the audiobook, “A Checkered Past” featuring racing legend Al Unser Jr. on Thursday, September 12th at the Big Machine Distillery.

This unique event promises to be a memorable experience for motorsport enthusiasts and book lovers alike. Al Unser Jr., a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, two-time INDYCAR Champion, and one of the most celebrated figures in racing history, will share stories from his illustrious career and read excerpts from his memoir.

The event will open at 6pm with media availability, followed by an exclusive interview featuring Al Unser Jr. alongside Scott Borchetta. “Growing up huge fans of his father Al, and his uncle Bobby, it was great to experience an Unser the same age as myself become a two-time INDY 500 winner and Series Champion,” says Big Machine GP Chairman, Scott Borchetta. “Getting to know Al Jr. over the last several years has given me a peek inside the mindset of this champion, his heart, and his passion for motorsports. I know every fan will hang one every word as Al tells it like it was, no filter, no holds barred, and throttle foot firmly to the floor.”

Following the interview, Al Jr. will treat the audience to a live reading of a brand-new chapter from his previously released book, “A Checkered Past,” presenting the audience a unique chance to experience the story narrated in his own voice. The evening finishes with book signings and a meet and greet with attendees.

The live reading event will offer fans an intimate glimpse into the life of a racing icon.
