We finally got in Touch with Ryan Kuhn of East Bridgewater, MA who revealed his plans for the entire 2024 season in the Pro Stocks/Super Late Models. We knew that he was committed to the upcoming Icebreaker in early April and another race at Lee USA Speedway in NH in May.
He also revealed this. “I’m only going to do 17 races in 2024. I’m not running for any championships. Beyond the Icebreaker and Lee, I’m planning on the Oxford 250 in August which Kyle Bush will take in! There’s a second race at Lee on June 21 then the Bay State Classic at Seekonk Speedway in MA and the Boss Hogg 250 at Wiscasset in Maine. Oxford Plains is also planning a Fourth of July race with a $40,000 purse.”
On another note, we discussed the cost of a new top Pro Stock /Super Late Model race car which is over $100,000 not counting trying to keep good tires and racing fuel on the racer. He agreed with me that the days of Pro Stocks/Super Late Models are heading into the sunset. At that point the ACT Type Late Model will become the standard when the turnout of the Pro Stock/Super Late Models diminishes at the short tracks on the East Coast.
As of March 19, 2024 we saw reports that Honda is very much interested in joining NASCAR’s three top circuits to compete with Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota. Dodge had considered returning to the World of NASCAR. However, with the EV and Hybrid vehicles being very fluid at this time, it appears that Dodge will continue to sit on the fence.
The MA Cruisers released their 2024 Schedule at the recent World on Wheels Showcase located at Gillette Stadium’s Field House. They go every two weeks on Thursdays. That biggest Cruise Night in North America kicks this year off at Patriot Place in Foxborough, MA on April 18 followed by May2 & 18, June 13 & 27, July 11 & 25, August 8 & 22, September 5 &19 and October 3 & 17. The events get underway at 4 p.m. with the major classic car clubs arriving at 2 .p.m. to stake out a claim in that huge parking lot. The Bass Pro Shop in that shopping center is the sponsor of that cruise night.
Coming up on Sunday, April 14, 2024 will be the Semi-Annual Toy Show at the Holiday Inn in Dedham, MA on US RT. 1. There will be an several models of race cars among other things for sale from 9 am-noon.
