(Stafford Springs, CT)—The question race fans throughout the region have been asking for months has been answered as Northampton, PA’s Matt Hirschman has entered the 50th running of the NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler® scheduled for April 23rd & 24th.
On an afternoon on which South Boston Speedway and the SMART Modified Tour honored Modified racing legend and five-time South Boston Speedway champion, the late Ray Hendrick, Matt Hirschman put together a late-race rally and held off Jonathan Brown in a five-lap dash to the finish to win Saturday’s Flying VA 99 SMART Modified Tour race.
As NASCAR teams and fans celebrate the past this weekend at Darlington Raceway, the Tour-type Modified teams of the Southeast are getting a similar and slightly-impromptu chance to do the same this Saturday at an old hot spot for Modified racing.
With Bowman Gray Stadium’s 2021 Opening Day being pushed to June 5, the SMART Modified Tour has stepped up once again this year, as the tour will head into Virginia for the second time this season, this time to historic Franklin County Speedway. (more…)
