Christopher, Gray, Morrison, Clement & Hydar Score Oct. 4 NAPA Championship Night Wins at Stafford; Molleur, Gambacorta, Clement, & Downey Clinch Track Titles

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted its final Friday night race program of the 2024 season with NAPA Auto Parts Championship Night on October 4.  Feature wins were notched by Michael Christopher, Jr. in the SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray in the Late Model feature, Josh Morrison in the SK Light feature, Matt Clement in the Limited Late Model feature, and Travis Hydar in the Street Stock feature.  Tyler Chapman had already secured the SK Light track championship last week and the other 2024 track champions are Andrew Molleur in the SK Modified® division, Kevin Gambacorta for the second consecutive season in the Late Model division, Matt Clement in the Limited Late Model division, and Travis Downey in the Street Stock feature. Stafford Speedway 2024 Champions to be Crowned at NAPA Champions Night on October 4th

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway will host NAPA Champions Night this Friday, Oct. 4 with the track crowning its 2024 champions.  Steven Chapman locked up the SK Light track championship with two wins last Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 & 28, including the 40-lap King of the Crate event.  With Chapman already knowing he is the 2024 SK Light champion, there are still 4 track titles to be decided in the SK Modified®, Late Model, Limited Late Model, and Street Stock divisions.

Puleo, Gray, Chapman, Hammann, & Hydar Score Sept. 27 Weekly Racing Wins at Stafford; Tyler Chapman Clinches SK Light Track Championship

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted its penultimate Weekly Racing event of the 2024 season on Friday, Sept. 27.  Taking down feature wins on the night were Jon Puleo in the SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray in the Late Model feature, Tyler Chapman in the SK Light feature, Rich Hammann in the Limited Late Model feature, and Travis Hydar in the Street Stock feature.  Champan’s SK Light victory, his ninth of the season, enabled him to clinch the 2024 SK Light track championship.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Anthony Flannery led the field to green and he took the early lead but the field was only able to complete one lap before the caution flew for Ethan Durocher, who came to a stop on the frontstretch grass with damage to his right front suspension. (more…)

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted Spear Bro’s Kids night on Friday, September 20th.  Feature winners on the night included Todd Owen in the SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray in the Late Model feature, Tyler Chapman in the SK Light feature, RJ Surdell in the Limited Late Model feature, and Tyler Trott in the Street Stock feature.  As part of Spear Bro’s Kids Night, there were two kids big wheel races and they were won by 7 year old Jordan Dion of Canton and 5 year old Jack Webber of Longmeadow, MA. Noah Korner Wins TC 13 Shootout; Hines Wins SK Modified Feature at Stafford; Gambacorta, Bloxsom, Cormier, & Warren Also Score Sept. 13 Feature Wins

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted First Responder Friday on September 13th with the TC 13 Shootout joining Stafford’s five weekly divisions in feature action.  The SK Modified® division ran their regularly scheduled 40-lap feature as well as the 3rd Annual TC 13 Shootout, a 13 lap race contested between the top-13 finishers from the 40-lap feature.  Noah Korner was the big winner of the night, scoring his first SK Modified® victory of any kind in the 13-lap, $1,313 to win TC 13 Shootout.  Also as part of the TC 13 Shootout festivities, the Ted Christopher Safety Initiative, orchestrated by Quinn Christopher, donated a Leaf Racewear firesuit that SK Modified® drivers would vote on as to who would win and Michael Gervais, Jr. was the winner of the vote.

Stafford SK Light Graduates Top Premier SK Modified® Division

(Stafford Springs, CT)—When Stafford Speedway created the SK Light division prior to the start of the 2006 season, the intent of the division was to provide not only a less expensive open wheel alternative to the track’s premier SK Modified® division, but to serve as a stepping stone to the premier division.  Fast forward 18 years and one look at the 2024 SK Modified® standings will show that the stepping stone vision has been realized and then some.  The top-5 drivers in the 2024 standings are all SK Light graduates, and going even further, 8 of the top-10 drivers in the standings got their open wheel starts in the SK Light division.

Tom Carey III Takes ‘the Brookside Ride’ to $5,000 Back to School Bash Victory

Thompson, CT — The Street Stocks got Sunday’s Back to School Bash at Thompson Speedway off to a rip-roaring start with polesitter Austin Flanagan quickly losing the lead under the green flag with an ill-handling machine. Flanagan’s fumble gave Ryan Waterman open range at the front of the pack as Al Stone III and Corey Fanning attempted to reel him in during their 20-lap feature. The lone caution flag flew just before the halfway point as Mike Viens went into the spin cycle in turn one. Although his early lead evaporated in an instant, Ryan Waterman again powered through on the restart to lead the Street Stocks under the checkered flag with Al Stone III and Corey Fanning joining the podium. (Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway returned to weekly racing action with the Late Model division taking center stage with their extra distance Paradiso Insurance Late Model 50 feature event on Friday night, September 6th.  Alexandra Fearn was the big winner of the night by surviving several green white checkered attempts to finish the race and hold off Adam Gray and then Darrell Keane to score her first win of the 2024 season.  Andrew Molleur was a first time 2024 winner in the SK Modified® feature, Tyler Chapman won for the seventh time this season in the SK Light feature, Devon Jencik won for the second time in the Limited Late Model feature, and Travis Downey recorded his third win in the Street Stock feature. (Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted Maybury Back to SKool Kids night with twin SK Light feature events on Friday, Aug. 30th.  The big winners of the night were Nickolas Hovey and Chris Matthews, who split the SK Light features between themselves with Hovey notching his third win of the season and Matthews his second.  Other feature winners were Michael Christopher, Jr. in the SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray in the Late Model feature, Matt Winter, II, and Travis Hydar.  As part of Maybury Kids Night, there were two kids big wheel races and they were won by 6 year old Bentley Walmsley of Franklin and 5 year old Cole Frazier of Agawam, MA.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Dylan Kopec took the early lead while behind him Andrew Molleur moved into second, Marcello Rufrano third, Tyler Hines fourth, and Jon Puleo fifth.  Steven Chapman got out of shape but gathered his car up and rejoined at the rear of the field as the race stayed green. (Stafford Springs, CT)—With Stafford Speedway’s SK Light division partaking in double features this Friday night, Aug. 30th as part of Maybury Back to SKool Kids Night, Ron Midford, Jr. will be in search of his first SK Light victory with his #76 Constantine Paving and Sealing car.  Midford is in the midst of his third full season of SK Light competition after winning 30+ features and 2 championships in the Senior Champs division of Wild Thing Karts and is looking to go one position higher after posting a career best finish of second place in the season opening NAPA Spring Sizzler® event. (Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted another round of Weekly Racing with twin Late Model feature events on Friday, Aug. 23rd.  Cliff Saunders and Paul Varricchio, Jr. were the winners of the Late Model feature events with Saunders picking up his first win of the season and Varricchio using a last lap pass to record his second win of the season.  Troy Talman was victorious for the third time this season in the SK Modified® feature, Tyler Chapman notched his sixth win of the season in the SK Light feature, Jeremy Lavoie took down his first win of the season in the Limited Late Model feature, and Travis Downey scored win #2 of the season in the Street Stock feature. Steven Chapman and Amanda West Continue Trend of 2024 First-Time Winners at Stafford Speedway

(Stafford Springs, CT)—For any driver, a first victory is a special occurrence and the Friday, August 16 Lincoln Tech 80 program at Stafford Speedway welcomed two new winners, Steven Chapman and the #14 Chapman Apartment Homes team in the SK Modified® division, and Amanda West and the #15 McKinney Construction team in the SK Light division.  New winners have been a theme at Stafford in 2024 with Chapman and West becoming the 8th and 9th different first-time winners during the 2024 season.  Chapman’s win was his third overall career win at Stafford but first in the SK Modified® division, while West’s victory was a first in any division at Stafford.

Kevin Gambacorta and Paul Varricchio, Jr. Lead Late Model Division Into Aug. 23 Double Header at Stafford Speedway

(Stafford Springs, CT)—With Stafford’s Late Model division set to partake in a double header this Friday, August 23rd, the race for the championship is coming into focus.  Kevin Gambacorta, the driver of the #23 Lavigne Law Chevrolet and Paul Varricchio, Jr., driver of the #39 Tavern on the Trax Chevrolet, kicked off the 2024 season racing one another for the season opening NAPA Spring Sizzler® victory and they are still the two drivers to beat in the race for the championship.  Both Gambacorta and Varricchio opened the season with strong results, Gambacorta recording 6 consecutive podium finishes and 2 wins, and Varricchio recording 3 podium finishes, including his first career victory on May 31st, and they have continued to run well all season long as the only 2 drivers to record top-10 finishes in each of the first 11 races.

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted AZ Roofing Kids Night on Friday, May 31st, the first of three kids nights scheduled for the 2024 season.  It was a night of first-time 2024 winners with Marcello Rufrano taking the SK Modified® feature, Paul Varricchio, Jr. the Late Model feature, Nickolas Hovey the SK Light feature, Kyle Theriault the Limited Late Model feature, and Tyler Trott the Street Stock feature.  There were two kids big wheel races with Joseph Davenport and Max Ayers the winners.
