Riverhead RacewayA combination of chamber of commerce weather coupled with a School Bus Demolition Derby drew a standing room only crowd to Riverhead Raceway Saturday evening for another exciting race program. Eric Hersey of Commack led the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series winners when he topped the 25-lap Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modified feature. The large turnout was confirmed as the largest since Eddie & Connie Partridge & Tom Gatz began operating the historic venue in 2016 after purchasing it in 2015.

Shane Cockrum Returns To DuQuoin State Fair After Springfield Crash

August 25, 2025-DuQuoin, IL-Two-time Ted Horn 100 winner Shane Cockrum was beside himself after the Hans Lein #97 Silver Crown championship car was hauled away on a hook during practice for the August 16 Bettenhausen 100 at Springfield.  Cockrum had entered turn one at speed when the front end washed out and the car slid into the outside concrete and a series of flips ensued.  Fortunately, the “Chief” wasn’t hurt but the car, a potential winner, was done for the day.  Cockrum and the Lein team will be one of the contenders in the upcoming Ted Horn 100 at DuQuoin, joined on the team by veteran Ken Schrader.

How Did Northeast Drivers Do Down South At Daytona?

Daytona International SpeedwayRyan Blaney won the Cup race at Daytona.  Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT came in 14th.  Not so lucky was Joey Logano of Middletown, CT, who ended his day in 27th place.
Conner Zilisch won the Xfinity race by virtue of Parker Kligerman from Weston CT stepping into the seat after Zilisch’s injury.  Patrick Emerling of LI, NY placed 13th while Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT had a bad day and ended up 37th.
In Indycar, at the Milwaukee Mile, Christian Rassmussen was the winner while Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT ended his day 14th place in the A. J. Foyt entry.

Stafford Speedway winner(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted another round of weekly racing on Friday, Aug. 22nd with each of Stafford’s five weekly divisions in action.  Marcello Rufrano was the big winner of the night, outlasting Keith Rocco and Steven Chapman to pick up his first SK Modified® feature win of the 2025 season in an absolutely thrilling race.  Other winners on the night were Kevin Gambacorta in the Late Model feature, Josh Morrison in the SK Light feature, Gary Patnode in the Limited Late Model feature, and Shawn Monahan in the Street Stock feature.
