Bonsignore & Emerling Bring 2021 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championship Battle To Riverhead Raceway
2021 NASCAR Whelen Modified championship contenders Justin Bonsignore and Patrick Emerling reside in polar opposite ends of New York State. Bonsignore of Holtsville lives in the southern most part of the state, while Emerling of Orchard Park lives just south of the Canadian border in a suburb of Buffalo. All spring and summer long however their paths have crossed from Maine to Virginia as the battle for the 2021 NASCAR WMT crown. Season On A Somber Saturday Night At Riverhead Raceway
Despite the unthinkable tragic loss of Riverhead Raceway owner Eddie Partridge less than 24 hours prior the decision on whether to run Saturday night’s Tribute To Heroes by Optimum Business would have to be made. During the process those involved asked themselves one question. What would Eddie do? The answer was clear, he’d race and so the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program was presented as scheduled. Coming into the final month of racing at Riverhead Raceway Saturday night defending Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead had two goals on his mind. Try and go out and win the 50-lap feature event for long time team member Pete “Fuzzy” Jones who passed away earlier in the week and also continue his streak of at least one victory for the 18th consecutive race season. In life if the world gives you lemons you make lemonade. Saturday night after making an unapproved adjustment after setting fast time in qualifying Kyle Soper of Manorville was made to start The Bubba 100 Buzz Chew NASCAR Modifieds event at the rear of the 19-car grid. No problem for Soper who made enough lemonade after being handed lemons for the entire pit area to quench their thirst with as he drove from last to first for his fourth victory in the last seven starts. Full Night of Racing And Demolition Derby Planned For Sept. 4th At Riverhead
Action will be at a premium Saturday September 4th at Riverhead Raceway as track owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz have lined up eight feature events for the night’s NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program including the annual Cromarty Wall of Champions inductions. With children on Long Island slated to return to school the following week what better way to send them into a new academic year then with a bang provided by a School Bus Demolition Derby that concludes the action packed show. Dave Brigati of Calverton returned to racing after a two month layoff at Riverhead Raceway Saturday with a point to prove, to himself as well his competitors. When the checker flag waved on the 50–lap Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified feature Brigati proved his point by winning his 12th career feature by far the most gratifying of his dozen victories. John Baker Wins Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified Race Saturday Night
Saddled with starting 12th in Saturday night’s Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified feature didn’t deter John Baker of Brookhaven from racing to his second win of the season on I Love American night at Riverhead Raceway as he won the 50-lap feature event. Kyle Soper Captures Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 Riverhead Raceway Win
On a night where three iconic NASCAR Modified drivers were honored an old school race long duel between eventual winner Kyle Soper of Manorville and defending champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead highlighted the annual Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway with Soper prevailing. For Soper it was his second Buzz Chew Chevorlet NASCAR Modified feature win in a row and Kyle’s first ever in the 77 just two weeks after stating the race was one he’d like to cross off his racing bucket list.
