He dominated the race by leading 323 of the 450 laps and held off Denny Hamlin to secure his first points-paying victory of the season. A full field of historic stock cars from the last seven decades brings the “Thunder of America” back to the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe in the heart of France a half a century after NASCAR stock cars first appeared in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The 36-car entry list features a compelling mix of both iconic machinery and celebrated drivers, and among the standouts is 2026 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and 2004 Cup Series champion Kurt Busch.

The Seven Year Itch – NASCAR Returns to Chicagoland for First Time Since 2019
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 29, 2026) – Since its debut in 2001, Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, has hosted 94 races across seven series on its 1.5-mile oval. None, however, have been in the last seven years.
When the checkered flag waved on June 30, 2019, to mark the end of the Camping World 400 NASCAR Cup Series race, it also marked the end of racing on Chicagoland’s D-shaped layout. Save for serving as a storage area for pickup trucks awaiting microchips during the global shortage brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and hosting a one-off SuperMotocross event in 2023, Chicagoland has been dormant. Newman, nicknamed “Rocket Man,” drove Dodge machinery to 13 of his 18 career Cup wins and earned 43 of his 51 career Cup poles in Dodges. He adds star power to Ram’s rotating-driver Free Agent Program as the manufacturer returns to NASCAR competition after a 13-year absence.

Carson Hocevar won the Cup Race at Talladega. Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT finished 18th while Joey Logano of Middletown, CT had another bad day with a 39th place finish.
In the O’Reily Series it was Corey Day who went to Victory Lane. Patrick Emerling, of LI, NY was 16th with Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT ending up 31st.
A Menard ARCA race was also on the weekend card with Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, NY winning that one. Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA came in fifth.
How Did Northeastern Drivers Do At Kansas?
Tyler Reddick won the Cup race at Kansas. Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT ended up 11th, and Joey Longano of Middletown, CT finished way back in 30th place.
Taylor Gray won the O’Reilly Series event with Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT placing 30th.
Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA won the Menard’s ARCA Series.
