Rick Martin ‘just kept at it,’ and now he’s entering Year 51 at Seekonk Speedway

Rick Martin never had grand ambitions when it came to racing. After watching his dad compete for 21 years, the sport was just something he wanted to try.

“Me and one of my friends bought a $50 car and went out there,” Martin said. “The other cars went by us so fast, I thought to myself, ‘I ain’t never gonna go that fast, I’m going to just quit now.’

“But I just kept at it, kept at it, and I guess it was the challenge that I enjoyed.”

Austin Cindric won the Cup race.  Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT finished in 28th   place.  Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT was 38th and Joey Logano of Middletown, CT got 39th.  Both Preece and Logano were DQ due to having illegal adjustments problems.
Austin Hill won the Xfinity race a day earlier with Anthony Alfredo in sixth.  Patrick Emerling of LI,NY finished 12th.  Kris Wright ended up 24th at the wheel of Cape Cod’s Chris and Mary Our entry.  Both father and daughter get their mail in Chatham, MA.

  • Lawless Alan (No. 20 AUTOParkit Toyota) scored his first career ARCA Menards Series victory in Saturday’s General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway. Alan, who led 30 of the race’s 77 laps, was ahead of Thad Moffitt (No. 46 Induction Innovations Toyota) when the caution flag came out in overtime, freezing the field and ending the race. Alan is the 362nd driver to win at least one ARCA Menards Series race since 1953. His previous best career series finish was fourth at Phoenix Raceway in March.

(April 27, 2025) ― 2024 TA Champion Paul Menard earned his second win of the season in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, leading every lap of a close and competitive race at Sonoma Raceway. Menard was challenged fervently by three-time TA Champion Chris Dyson, who was anxious for redemption after a crash in Sebring kept him out of the seat for Round 2 at Road Atlanta. However, despite Dyson’s valiant efforts, Menard took the checkered flag with a narrow 0.291-second margin of victory.
