SCCA Tradition Continues This Weekend at Lime Rock Park – Over 200 Entries for New England Regional

Lime Rock Park continues a tradition dating back to the track’s opening in 1957 with this weekend’s SCCA New England Regional Races.

Fans can enjoy a full contingent of sports car action, featuring more than 200 race cars in seven race groups and 40 classes driven by the best amateur drivers in the Northeast. Friday features a full day of practice and qualifying, while Saturday will have each of the seven groups competing in morning and afternoon races, beginning at 9 a.m. (more…)

Memorable Monday Closes Out Memorial Day Weekend of Racing at Lime Rock Park
LAKEVILLE, Conn. (31 May 2021) – Mike Skeen scored an improbable victory in Monday’s Trans Am Memorial Day Classic finale at Lime Rock Park. The defending TA2® champion lost the lead to Rafa Matos after an incident with a lapped car early in the 66-lap race, but came back with four laps remaining to score his first Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli victory of the season.

LAKEVILLE, CT (29 May 2021) – Winning at his home track was twice as sweet for Chris Dyson in Saturday’s Trans Am Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park. The resident of nearby Poughkeepsie, N.Y. led every lap for his second Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli victory of the season, while polesitter Ernie Francis Jr., his closest rival for the championship, failed to finish after a mechanical issue.

Chase Elliott Wins Rain-Shortened Cup Race at COTA

It was probably just a matter of time before Chase Elliott scored his first win of the season and it is only fitting it was at another road course. NASCAR had two races this season which were really big PR moves and both nearly failed due to driver visibility issues. Both the inaugural Bristol dirt race and the COTA were stopped when visibility became so bad that drivers were put into positions where they literally could not see past the hood of their cars. Only sheer luck saved anyone from being seriously hurt, especially at the COTA race. (more…)
