Winward Racing Extends IMSA WeatherTech GTD Class Championship Lead with Fourth-Place Finish at the 50th Grand Prix of Long Beach

LONG BEACH, California – Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing team Winward Racing extended its points leads in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona (GTD) driver and team championship standings with a fourth-place finish Saturday in the 100-minute sprint race at the 50th Grand Prix of Long Beach. Starting seventh in the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, co-drivers Russell Ward and Philip Ellis improved three positions on the 1.968-mile Long Beach street circuit in a clean and competitive run to the finish.

LONG BEACH, California (April 7, 2025) – GMG Racing has a new home track after moving into its state-of-the-art headquarters last year at The Thermal Club, but Long Beach will always be the championship winning team’s “Home Surf.” Multiple GT racing champions and Long Beach race winners, GMG Racing was founded in nearby Orange County and returns for the 50th running of the Grand Prix of Long Beach this weekend with another formidable four-car effort.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing Teams Secure Three GT3 Race Wins in Season-Opening SRO America Race Weekend in Sonoma

SONOMA, California – Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing teams JMF Motorsports, Regulator Racing and CrowdStrike by Riley combined for a trio of Mercedes-AMG GT3 race wins Saturday and Sunday in the season-opening SRO America event weekend at Sonoma Raceway. The victories accounted for half of the weekend’s six podium appearances by Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing teams in a competitive weekend that moved this year’s championship campaigns in both GT World Challenge America and GT America powered by AWS off to solid starts.

Starting on the outside front row in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, Washington took a lead he would hold to the finish on the first green flag lap after polesitter and former GT America Champion George Kurtz was among the half dozen competitors to go off course in the treacherous conditions. Starting ninth in the “Am” division in the packed 31-car field, team drivers Zoë Barry and Aurora Straus improved a class-high five race positions in the one-hour race to secure the solid fourth-place showing.
