Founder Bill France Sr. Welcomed Road Course Racing As He Began Promoting NASCAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2021) – NASCAR’s top three national series are ready to make their second attempt on the iconic DAYTONA Road Course inside the Daytona International Speedway this weekend, Feb. 19-21, for an exciting tripleheader. It features Friday’s BrakeBest Select 159 At DAYTONA presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts (NASCAR Camping World Truck Series), Saturday’s SuperStart 188 At DAYTONA presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts (NASCAR Xfinity Series) and Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 (NASCAR Cup Series). 2021 Daytona 500 TV Ratings

Last Sunday’s NASCAR Daytona 500 averaged a 2.8 rating and 4.83 million viewers on FOX, easily the lowest in the history of the race. Ratings fell 36% and viewership 34% from the previous low set last year, when most of the race was run on a Monday afternoon (4.4, 7.33M). (more…)

NASCAR Xfinity Series News & Notes – Daytona Road Course

In 2020, the NASCAR Xfinity Series ran on four road courses. They started the season at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course and then went to Road America, the Daytona Road Course and closed out at the Charlotte ROVAL.

O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 At DAYTONA Set for NASCAR Cup Series Race on Iconic 3.61-Mile Road Course Weekend, Feb. 19-21

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2021) – Daytona International Speedway announced today its three entitlement sponsors for NASCAR’s second visit to the DAYTONA Road Course, set for this weekend, Feb. 19-21.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 NASCAR Cup Series race is set for Sunday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m. ET. The event on the 3.61-mile, 14-turn layout will consist of 70 laps. The weekend kicks off Friday, Feb. 19, with the BrakeBest Select 159 At DAYTONA presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts (44 laps) for the NASCAR Camping World Series (7:30 p.m. start) while Saturday’s SuperStart 188 At DAYTONA presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts (52 laps) gets the green flag at 5 p.m. ET. Riley Herbst begins 2021 with the familiar colors of Monster Energy, but in a new make with a number. He takes over the No. 98 Ford Mustang from Chase Briscoe, who scored nine wins in 2020.
