When Katherine Legge took the green flag at Phoenix Raceway earlier this year, she became the 17th different woman to compete at the Cup level. The last woman to run a Cup race before her was Danica Patrick over seven years ago. And much like Patrick’s last race, Legge’s debut was eventful, spinning twice and falling 102 laps shy of the checkered flag. But the 44-year-old remains undeterred.

Denny Hamlin won the Cup race.  Joey Logano of Middletown, CT came in 13th.  Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT finished in 26th place.

Brandon Jones won the Xfinity race.  Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT came in 31st.

Not as lucky was Kris Wright who was at the wheel of Cape Cod’s Chris and Mary Our entry.  The father and daughter both reside in Chatham, MA.
