Brandon Gray Claims Record-Breaking Seventh Flying Tiger Victory, Clinches Championship on McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Friday!

Barre, VT — The Maplefield/Irving Late Models started off McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Friday with their 50-lap trophy dash to kick start Super Friday’s five division showcase. Outside polesitter Taylor Hoar got off to a sour start, careening into the infield on lap one to bring out the early caution. Mid-Afternoon Rain Causes Race Cancelation Saturday Night For Grandview Speedway, Spunktown Tavern & Restaurant Championship Night Determines Point Titles Next Saturday September 14

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Following significant rainfall during a line of storms mid-afternoon, and with more rain showers on the radar screen to follow for the next several hours leading up to race time Saturday evening, track management had to once again cancel the planned race events for this week at Grandview Speedway.

The mid and late day precipitation left the speedway facility very wet, and with no drying weather expected right after the rain moved through, it would not have allowed the track crew a chance to be able to prepare the track in a timely manner for the evening’s race program. (more…)

NASCAR’s Charter Disagreement With Teams is at a Breaking Point as Playoffs Arrive

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — After Tyler Reddick battled a stomach virus throughout the Southern 500 to eke out a 1-point win over Kyle Larson for NASCAR’s regular-season championship, he and the 23XI Racing ownership group went to collect the trophy.

Reddick stood next to the trophy, team co-owner Michael Jordan by his side. Co-owners Denny Hamlin and Curtis Polk were on the other side. Nowhere to be found? A NASCAR executive to present the hardware.

“You know, certainly, pretty disappointed to not see anyone from NASCAR present Tyler his trophy,” Hamlin said. (more…)

Friday Qualifying Shapes the Field at 2024 NASA Championships

Friday Qualifying Shapes the Field at 2024 NASA Championships

Sept. 6, 2024, Salt Lake City — Friday qualifying at the 2024 NASA Championships is an interesting proposition. Race drivers have two qualifying sessions to lay down their fastest lap time in an attempt to start from as far forward on grid as possible for the first qualifying race on Saturday.

The morning session is usually the best opportunity to set a fast time. Afternoon sessions give drivers the opportunity to put all their added seat time to good use, but temperatures in the high 80s this afternoon in the Tooele Valley can diminish engine power and decrease the amount of grip on the racing surface. Drivers who lay down a scorcher of a lap in the morning usually set themselves up to be in the best grid position possible. (more…)
