NASCAR will take its elite Cup Series international for the first points-paying race outside the United States with a June stop in Mexico City.
The Cup Series will race at storied Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, where NASCAR and track officials have a Tuesday morning news conference to announce the June 15 race, track officials told The Associated Press.
Barre, VT — Thunder Road and American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials announced today a small change in schedule for the 46th Labor Day Classic 200 program presented by NEFCU/VSECU on Sunday, September 1. The annual 200 lap affair will continue to be held on Sunday, September 1 but will move to an evening special with an afternoon Post Time of 4:00pm.
The annual Labor Day weekend special has annually been held with a 1:30pm post time but Thunder Road and ACT officials have cited several reasons for the move. “Moving to 4:00pm will hopefully eliminate the need for teams to find a place to stay overnight Saturday and still get home at a decent hour Sunday night,” said Thunder Road and ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “The side-by-side racing on Thursday nights has been fantastic this season and ACT under the lights at Thunder Road is sure to be a great show!” (more…)
Barre, VT — On what started out as a perfect afternoon in Central Vermont suddenly turned gray, deary and, worst of all, wet on Thursday. Following the conclusion of qualifying for rk Miles Street Stocks and Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models, rains began to fall on the Thunder Road property causing the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers to duck into the pit area.
Fort Kent, Maine’s Austin Theriault hasn’t run a long-distance auto race since Oct. 14, 2019. That’s when he was injured in a wreck during the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. (more…)
Barre, VT — While officials remained optimistic at the conclusion of yesterday’s racing program, the weatherman was once again unkind to Thunder Road on Saturday morning. With a forecasted weather pattern similar to the one that pushed Thursday’s postponement, Thunder Road officials have made the difficult decision to hold off and postpone the McGee Hyundai of Barre program to a new Super Friday date on Friday, September 1st. The New England Antique Racers (NEAR) held it’s annual membership meeting returning to the place just shy one week of 42 years ago where the very first public meeting was held at the Dante Club in West Springfield Ma.
