NASCAR Officer Upholds Decision to Revoke Austin Dillon’s Playoff Berth

CONCORD, N.C. — Austin Dillon‘s overly aggressive victory at Richmond Raceway won’t land him a spot in the Cup Series playoffs.

A NASCAR appeal officer Monday upheld the sanctioning body’s decision to revoke Dillon’s automatic postseason berth that came with his controversial win at Richmond on Aug. 11. Dillon intentionally wrecked Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano coming out of the final turn to take the checkered flag for his first victory in two years. (more…)

The Alpine A424s Return to Action in Austin

After the summer break, Alpine Endurance Team returns to the Americas for the resumption of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Austin, back on the calendar for the first time since 2020.

Inaugurated in 2012, the Circuit of the Americas has established itself as a favourite destination among competitors, with its gradients, including a steep climb to the first corner and its fast and technical sections spread over 5,513 metres. This layout offers plenty of challenges, and the drivers’ fitness will be severely tested by the high temperatures and counter-clockwise direction, which always punishes the neck muscles. (more…)

Did NASCAR Get It Right With Austin Dillon at Richmond?

After a few days of waiting, NASCAR finally made an announcement as to what they are doing about Austin Dillon’s mad dash to the checkered flag at Richmond.

Essentially, Dillon can keep the win and the trophy, but NASCAR decided he went too far in his desire to get into the playoffs. His win will not count as an automatic berth into the playoffs and he and RCR lose 25 points.
