Chemung, N.Y. – (May 1, 2021) – Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome will provide the stage for the Race of Champions Modified Series return to racing in its home state of New York. The series was “idle” in the Empire State during the 2020 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic that wreaked havoc worldwide. The gates swung open Saturday evening for the 71st season of stock car racing at Riverhead Raceway and when the checker flag waved on the 50-lap Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified feature John Beatty Jr. of Merrick sat in the winner circle after surviving a late race restart with 11 laps remaining in the race to post his 9th career victory. With two feature wins to his credit Brett Kressley continues to lead the T.P.Trailers NASCAR Modified point standings at Grandview Speedway while Kenny Gilmore, without benefit of a feature win, is sitting on top in the T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman.
