TALLADEGA, Ala. – A last lap pass for the win is a recurring theme at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and that’s exactly what landed JR Motorsports driver Sammy Smith in Victory Lane on Saturday. It was the only lap he led all day but it was good enough to win Saturday’s United Rentals 250 overtime thriller and earn Smith an automatic berth into the next round of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs.
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted its penultimate Weekly Racing event of the 2024 season on Friday, Sept. 27. Taking down feature wins on the night were Jon Puleo in the SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray in the Late Model feature, Tyler Chapman in the SK Light feature, Rich Hammann in the Limited Late Model feature, and Travis Hydar in the Street Stock feature. Champan’s SK Light victory, his ninth of the season, enabled him to clinch the 2024 SK Light track championship.
In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Anthony Flannery led the field to green and he took the early lead but the field was only able to complete one lap before the caution flew for Ethan Durocher, who came to a stop on the frontstretch grass with damage to his right front suspension. (more…)
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Winning Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing teams Winward Racing and Korthoff Preston Motorsports clinched the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GT Daytona (GTD) Manufacturer Championship right at the start of the Battle on The Bricks and then spent the remainder of the wet and wild six-hour endurance race closing in on more year-end team and driver honors Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). The No. 32 Korthoff Preston Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 finished third in GTD after co-drivers Mikael Grenier, Mike Skeen and Kenton Koch battled in the lead pack the entire race from the pole starting position. WeatherTech Championship GTD points leaders Winward Racing took the checkered flag just seconds after the No. 32 team for a fifth-place finish with team drivers Russell Ward, Philip Ellis, and Indy Dontje in the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Barre, VT — The Maplefield/Irving Late Models started off McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Friday with their 50-lap trophy dash to kick start Super Friday’s five division showcase. Outside polesitter Taylor Hoar got off to a sour start, careening into the infield on lap one to bring out the early caution. Chip Grenier put the pedal down to lead the restart on the outside groove over Stephen Martin and set the pace out front. The caution flew once more on lap 16 as Christopher Bedard stacked up the middle of the pack in turn four, sending Jason Corliss hard into the Widowmaker frontstretch wall and ending his night early. LEE, N.H. – Corey Bubar was probably not the favorite to win Sunday evening’s Bosowski Properties 150. But in the season finale for the Granite State Pro Stock Series, Bubar stole the show.
The Windham, Maine, racer held off Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. to claim the $8,500 victory at Lee USA Speedway, closing out Lee USA Speedway’s year-ending Russ Conway’s Oktoberfest spectacular.
