Earlier this week, the Haas Factory Team, which fields Fords for Cole Custer in the NASCAR Cup Series and Sam Mayer and Sheldon Creed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, announced it would be switching power-plants to Chevrolet in 2026.
With the news coming just as the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs begin Friday in Bristol, Tenn. the drivers were asked if they worried any about Ford’s commitment to the team as it embarks on a title run.
Reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion JR Motorsports veteran Justin Allgaier finished second to his teammate Conner Zilisch in the Regular Season Championship. And he joins Zilisch and Austin Hill as the series’ only other multi-race winners.

At just 18 years old, Connor Zilisch is set to make his NASCAR Cup Series debut this weekend in the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas. Trackhouse Racing’s young phenom racer, who won in his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut a season ago, says he feels more confident in driving the NASCAR Cup Series car than he did the Xfinity car.
“Honestly, I feel like the cup car is more like what I’m used to,” Zilisch said in a Tuesday media availability. “You know, racing, sports cars, I’ve run a sequential gearbox in a TA car, and MX5 Cup car. You know, I think the build of the car is a lot more like I’m used to. It’s a stiffer platform, it’s an independent rear suspension. BRASELTON, Ga., (October 10, 2024) – The season finale for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is Saturday, October 12 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, and Wright Motorsports sweeps into the weekend riding high with two recent back-to-back wins. The team comes into Petit Le Mans as the most recent GTD class race winners in the WeatherTech Championship, and also just secured a class victory and championship title in the Fanatec GT World Challenge series. Harrison Burton and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team are headed to the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway needing a stellar run to advance to the Round of 12 in the Cup Series Playoffs.
Burton is 16th in the standings, 20 points below the cutoff for advancement to the next round. After Saturday night’s 500-lapper on the high-banked half-mile, the bottom four drivers in the Playoff standings will be eliminated from championship contention. (more…)
