One thing is becoming abundantly clear with the budding driving career of 18-year-old Chase Grennan of Glen Cove, the bright spotlight of signature NASCAR Modified events at Riverhead Raceway doesn’t intimidate him at all. In fact, he thrives on them and has been dubbed with the moniker “Big Time”. Saturday, the college freshman set fast time and led all but the first lap of the Cecil Palm Tree 66 for his third win of the season, all Crown Jewel Series events for the Ted Christopher Cup. SEEKONK, Mass. — Seekonk Speedway has a packed weekend of excitement planned September 12-13, with drivers continuing their battle for the championship on both Fast Friday and NASCAR Saturday. On top of that, Saturday night is First Responders Night, with free admission for First Responders courtesy of IBEW Local 99, along with the annual Wall of Fame induction. This year, Ronnie Pond, a “Master of Speed” and Johnny Tripp, a multiple-division winner and a former track champion, will both be inducted at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night.

He’s currently 23 points behind teammate Chris Buescher for the final playoff spot as the series heads to Watkins Glen International. Chemung, N.Y. – (August 4, 2025) – The Race of Champions Modified Series will continue one of the Southern Tier’s most treasured traditions with the running of “The Night Before The Glen – Rod Spalding Classic” at Chemung Speedrome on Saturday, August 9.
The event will include another “Backpack” giveaway including school for youngsters. The first “Kids RoC” backpack giveaway was ultra successful this past Friday at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY and another round of nearly 70 backpacks will be handed out Saturday at Chemung as part of the traditional night.

The event honors Rod Spalding, a respected Modified driver who received the Sportsmanship of the Year award at Shangri-La Speedway in Tioga, N.Y., before suffering serious injuries at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C. His legacy lives on through the work of the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers, which continues to support racers throughout the region.

The ‘Thunder and Lightning’ division of Barre’s Thunder Road goes for their longest point-counting showdown of the summer season with a chance at joining a who’s-who of all time greats on the Vermont Governor’s Cup.
