    New England’s only NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race is Sunday, Sept. 21 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

LOUDON, N.H. – New England’s only NASCAR Playoffs weekend is set for Sept. 19-21 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), and not only are race fans excited about their annual NASCAR stop being in September – cooler weather, Trucks return, Playoffs – the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) drivers have been looking forward to returning to NHMS to kick off the Round of 12 as well:

How Did Northeast Drivers Do Down South At Daytona?

Daytona International SpeedwayRyan Blaney won the Cup race at Daytona.  Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT came in 14th.  Not so lucky was Joey Logano of Middletown, CT, who ended his day in 27th place.
Conner Zilisch won the Xfinity race by virtue of Parker Kligerman from Weston CT stepping into the seat after Zilisch’s injury.  Patrick Emerling of LI, NY placed 13th while Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT had a bad day and ended up 37th.
In Indycar, at the Milwaukee Mile, Christian Rassmussen was the winner while Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT ended his day 14th place in the A. J. Foyt entry.

How Did Northeast NASCAR Drivers Do At Richmond?

Richmond RacewayAustin Dillion won the Cup race at Richmond.  Joey Logano of Middletown, CT ended up fourth while Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT ended his evening in 35th place.
In the Craftsman Truck Series race, Corey Heim won that event.  Corey LaJoie came in fourth. Next was Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA who ended up sixth.  Corey LaJoie is the son of two-time Xfinity Champion Randy LaJoie who grew up in Norwalk, CT.
Checking the track’s grandstand, it looked like the crowd was good.  In my opinion I’d have to say at least 60 % full!

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 13, 2025) – Throughout the season, NASCAR has been celebrating the 40th anniversary of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour modern era, beginning with the 1985 season, by releasing the list of the 40 greatest drivers in the series without ranking. Ten were added to the list during each announcement, culminating in today’s final grouping of drivers released leading into Thursday night’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 150 at Richmond Raceway (7:30 p.m. ET).

Here’s Lou Modestino and his Track Talk column, reporting on northeastern motorsports competitors’ results from the past weekend…
Shane Van Gisbergen won the Cup race at Watkins Glen, NY.   Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT came 13th.  Joey Logano of Middletown, CT finished 14th.
Corner Zilisch won the Xfinity race.  Boston’s Kaz Grala ended up 11th driving the Chris and Mary Our entry from Cape Cod, MA   Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT wasn’t so luck and had to settle for 32nd.  Ditto for Thomas Anziana of Colt’s Neck, NJ, whoended his day in 37th.
The Craftsman Trucks had Corey Heim go to victory Lane.  Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA placed third while Parker Kligerman of Weston, CT came in 31st.
The ARCA Menard’s Series was also at the Glen which saw Tristen McKee going to Victory Lane while Dale Quarterly, originally from Hanover, MA,  finished fifth.  Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, NY came in seventh.
On the West Coast the Indy Cars were in action in Portland, OR with Will Power the first to get the checkered flag.  Not so lucky was Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT who ended his day in 27th position.

Bubba Wallace won the Cup Series race at the Brickyard. Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT came in 4th.  Joey Logano of Middletown, CT ended up 32nd.

Connor Zillisch won the Xfinity race while Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT came in 23rd.

Across town at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, the Craftsman Truck race was won Layne Riggs with Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA having a tough day and ending up 28th.

Over on the west coast at Monterey, CA it was another Indycar win for Spain’s Alex Palou while Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT had an off day and finished 22nd
