Close Finishes and Screaming Speeds Highlight Thunder Road Weekly Opener
Barre, VT — Friday’s 5-division card at Thunder Road opened the weekly racing series at the Barre, Vermont oval. The racing was some of the best seen at the storied highbanks this season with razor thin finishes and the fastest speeds ever witnessed at the 63-year-old speedbowl. STAFFORD, Conn. – For the first time in 2022, Stan Mertz Racing unloaded at the track for the 50th running of the NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway on April 23-24. Driving the No. 6, Matt Galko qualified into the big dance, and led laps in the first half of the 100-lap Spring Sizzler feature. After a pit stop for fresh rubber, Galko restarted outside the top-10, but worked his way back into the top-10 quickly, and continued advancing through the field before the finish.

STAFFORD, Conn. – For the first time in 2022, the Doug Coby Racing team unloaded at the track on April 23-24, competing in the 50th running of the NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway. Logano Finishes 2nd At Martinsville
The favorite line of Ricky Bobby in the film Talladega Nights was simple and straight-forward: “If you ain’t first, you’re last”.
Of course, Ricky Bobby is a fictional character. But real-life NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt is often attributed to the quote “second place is just the first loser”.
Truex Jr. Wins As Joe Gibbs Racing Finishes 1-2-3
Martin Truex, Jr. started the race with a penalty on the first lap. Denny Hamlin controlled the start and may have spun his wheels but it didn’t matter. NASCAR rule states that you may not beat the polesitter to the start finish line and MTJ certainly did that, tire spinning or not. Hamlin is pretty sly on restarts and even if he didn’t spin his tires, he will definitely play the restart to bait his opponent into a mistake.
