It looked like this was a race that had Denny Hamlin written all over it. He signed a nice extension with Joe Gibbs Racing, he started on the front row, won both Stages and he led 177 laps. I mean, you could just write this one early and go to bed, right?
Nope.

Andrea Crugnola has made it five different winners in this season’s FIA European Rally Championship with a charging drive to victory on Rally di Roma Capitale today (Sunday).

Denny Hamlin ran Kyle Larson up into the wall late in the race and bullied his way to his 7th win at Pocono. As NASCAR crowds are wont to do, they voiced their displeasure with Hamlin upon exiting his car to take the checkered flag. Hamlin didn’t seem too perturbed by the boo birds and said they can boo his (Pocono commemorative) rock later on. (more…)

With a near pole win last November in his first NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Phoenix Raceway, we learned that part-time driver Sammy Smith had speed at the Arizona one-mile track, and after posting a top-10 finish in that Xfinity Series championship race, we knew he could handle himself in a Xfinity Series car.
Welcome back race fans! Long time to be away from racing. As many of you know, the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona is the kickoff to the season for me but I have to admit my attention was elsewhere a lot of this young season. After watching qualifying for the 500, I pretty much missed the Duels for the first time in forever.
There have been a fair amount of changes this year leaving me to question just how good the racing was going to be.
