With a forecasted weather pattern similar to the one that pushed Thursday’s postponement, Thunder Road officials have made the difficult decision to hold off and postpone the McGee Hyundai of Barre program to a new Super Friday date on Friday, September 1st. It’s foot to the floor time in the FIA European Rally Championship this week (19 – 21 May) with Poland’s high-speed gravel stages providing the latest challenge for the ERC stars and their cars.
And with the ERC turning 70 this season it’s only fitting that the second oldest rally in the world is part of the 2023 schedule, kicking off a three-event run of flat-out gravel events.
Yoann Bonato is a two-time winner in the FIA European Rally Championship after a sublime drive to victory at Rally Islas Canarias on Saturday.
With fellow Frenchman Benjamin Boulloud co-driving, Bonato started leg two 11.0sec in front of European championship leader Hayden Paddon. He eventually triumphed by 36.9sec following a day dominated by the changeable weather conditions – and some seriously close competition throughout the field.
The stage is set for the first asphalt round of the 2023 FIA European Rally Championship, Rally Islas Canarias. Taking place from 4 – 6 May, the event has challenged ERC drivers and their teams on 30 previous occasions and this year’s edition, the 47th, will be no exception.
Eight weeks on from the season-opening winter rounds, the 2021 FIA World Rally Championship resumes with another brand-new event as the Croatia Rally makes its debut on the global stage. (more…)
The FIA World Rally Championship will stage its most northerly round ever this week when the Arctic Rally Finland hosts the series for the first time.

It’s been just six weeks since Sébastien Ogier clinched his seventh FIA World Rally Championship title in a dramatic final-round showdown with his Toyota team-mate Elfyn Evans at Rally Monza.
