Zak Brown Provides Series of Updates Ahead of Rolex 24 At Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In a media roundtable in advance of the 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown joined McLaren Hypercar Team Principal James Barclay and Brown’s co-owner of United Autosports, Richard Dean, to reiterate McLaren’s interest in joining the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Brown has consistently noted since the formal launch of the McLaren top-level prototype program, its desire to join IMSA and only affirmed that last week.

“Let’s get WEC (FIA World Endurance Championship) up and running first, and our desire to be in IMSA is very high,” Brown told reporters.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Add yet another historic victory to Roger Penske’s iconic career of high achievement. Team Penske kicked off its 60th anniversary season Sunday with the overall victory in the 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona – Penske’s third straight win in the world-renowned sports car race. It featured an all-time Rolex 24 record attendance at the Daytona International Speedway road course to kick off the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

Brazilian Felipe Nasr drove the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 across the finish line 1.569 seconds ahead of Brit Jack Aitken in the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R after a particularly spirited battle through the final hour between the two. The No. 24 BMW M Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 was third, 21 seconds behind the winner, in the team’s first race running the IMSA BMW GTP program.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Three of the teams expected to vie for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) title all took the wraps off their updated 2026 challengers this week.

On Sunday, Acura Meyer Shank Racing went first for its No. 60 and No. 93 Acura ARX-06 cars. The No. 60 has its third different livery since last year’s Rolex 24.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The field is set to launch the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, first with today’s release of the entry list for next week’s Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. As this test is mandatory for all teams participating in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the entry list for the Roar should look substantially the same as the entry list for the race when it is released next week.

Dragonspeed to Corvette for IMSA 2026DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – DragonSpeed – runners-up for the Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) Drivers and Teams championships for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, as well as three-time Rolex 24 At Daytona class winners and 24 Hours of Le Mans Pro/Am victors in Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) – is shifting gears again for 2026.

A move to the Pro/Am GTD class in IMSA will see DragonSpeed renew its ties with General Motors to field a new Corvette Z06 GT3.R, the model which claimed this year’s GTD PRO title. The team will take delivery of its chassis later this month, with private testing to commence shortly thereafter.
