Lime Rock Park – Jim Haynes, 1933-2023
With great sadness but deep appreciation, Lime Rock Park notes the passing of one of the major figures in the track’s history. Jim Haynes, a two-time SCCA National Champion driver, purchased Lime Rock Park in 1964 from its builders and over the next 11 years, first as owner and then as general manager, shepherded the facility’s growth from near bankruptcy to internationally recognized motorsports venue.

Shawn Solomito Takes Modified Win Saturday At Riverhead Raceway
A chance conversation started during the 2020 Islip 300 last November at Riverhead Raceway morphed into Shawn Solomito of Islip teaming up with Jimmy & Angela Rennick as the driver of their NASCAR Modified and in just their second start together Saturday night Shawn put the new combination into the winners circle at the conclusion of the 50-lap Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified event. (Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted its first scheduled Friday night race of the 2021 season with a Stafford Weekly Series program on Friday, May 7th. Michael Christopher outdueled Keith Rocco to win the SK Modified® feature, while both Michael Bennett and Derek Debbis both made it two-for-two in 2021 by winning the Late Model and SK Light feature events respectively. Rich Hammann scored his first career Stafford feature victory in the Limited Late Model feature, and Travis Hydar won the Street Stock feature. (more…)
Drellos starts title defense with a big win at Devil’s Bowl
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Demetrios Drellos picked up right where he left off last year: On top at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The reigning Sportsman Modified champion opened the new season on Saturday, May 1, with a dominant win during a wildly unpredictable night presented by Mike’s Fuels of Bridport. A total of 118 racecars jammed the pit area and outer parking lot as a nice spectator crowd filtered in for the 2021 lid-lifter, and Drellos collected a whopping $3,200 for his victory in the race honoring the late Matt Bilodeau. John Beatty Jr. Tops Opening Night Modified Feature At Riverhead Raceway Saturday
The gates swung open Saturday evening for the 71st season of stock car racing at Riverhead Raceway and when the checker flag waved on the 50-lap Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified feature John Beatty Jr. of Merrick sat in the winner circle after surviving a late race restart with 11 laps remaining in the race to post his 9th career victory. A solid and talented field of 20 Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds signed in for the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series opener. (more…)
