Considering the teams for which they drive — Richard Petty Motorsports for Jones, JTG Daugherty Racing for Preece — exist on the competitive fringes, as small programs not likely to secure position in the series’ lucrative playoffs. At the end of the night, youngster William Byron took the checkered flag at Homestead besting a hard charging Tyler Reddick.
Byron joins McDowell and Bell as early winners this season who are payoff bound ahead of the expected veteran racers. Many analysts thought this would be the race for Joe Gibbs Racing with either Bell repeating or seeing one of his strong veteran teammates in victory lane. (more…)

Ty Gibbs, grandson of team owner Joe Gibbs, made history last weekend at the Daytona Road Course. Gibbs, who was making his first career start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, won the race in the No. 54 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing and added his name to the list of drivers that won in their first Xfinity start. HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (February 23, 2021) – Joe Gibbs Racing announces today the remaining NASCAR Xfinity Series races scheduled for driver Ty Gibbs in 2021.
Gibbs, who will be competing for a championship and running the full ARCA Menards Series schedule this season in the No. 18 Toyota Camry, is currently scheduled to run an additional 14 races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series after winning his debut this past weekend behind the wheel of the No. 54 Toyota Supra.
