Unique in its design, the three-turn, paved 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway will host the NASCAR Cup Series this weekend for the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 on Sunday, July 24 at 3 p.m. ET on USA Network, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90), the 21st event of the 26-race regular season.
Clean air and patience were the name of the game at Nashville on Sunday and Chase Elliott was both. For fans, patience was tried as the race was delayed for weather twice for lightning and rain with the second delay lasting over 2 hours. If you were able to stay awake, kudos to you.

(APRIL 28, 2022) – NASCAR and Texas Motor Speedway today announced the format and eligibility for the NASCAR All-Star Race on Sunday, May 22, that features four stages and 125 laps of on-track competition for a $1 million payday, stage winner incentives, amplified roles for the pit crews, and a distinctive head-to-head elimination qualifying format.
While I don’t think anyone is surprised at Kyle Larson winning in 2022, it is kind of surprising how he won this past weekend at California.
Tyler Reddick looked like he had the car to beat. Until he didn’t.
Things weren’t looking all that rosy for the driver with the most wins this season. Even after winning Stage 2, Kyle Larson fell back a few seconds of the leaders. But two late race cautions turned things around. With Chase Elliott leading, a caution bunched up the field and put Larson back in contact with the leaders but he still didn’t have the speed and clean air Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex, Jr. enjoyed.
Once again, Kyle Larson spanked the field on his way to Victory Lane leading 264 of the 300 laps. While many in the field suffered from grip, brake and tire issues, Larson quickly made his way to the front and stayed there. If another driver found the lead, it wasn’t for long. Larson had his car hooked up and he didn’t waste time finding the lead every time. The only other driver to lead double digit laps was Kyle Busch with 10.
Kyle Larson won at Sonoma making it back to back victories while sweeping every Stage along the way. Larson made it look easy as he held off Chase Elliott and Martin Truex, Jr. Elliott was vying for his first won at Sonoma after being dominant at every other road course and Truex was going for his third Sonoma win.
Martin Truex, Jr. went out and showed everyone how it’s done. He won the first two Stages, led 248 of 293 laps and then went to victory lane for his series-leading third win — something no other Stage winner has done. That’s what we call a spanking. (more…)
After a wild race at the behemoth that is Talladega Superspeedway last weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series prepares for this Sunday’s Buschy McBusch Race 400 (3 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at Kansas Speedway, its fourth event of the 2021 season on a 1.5-mile track. (more…)
