Team Penske power
The championship three-car Team Penske organization already owns two wins through the opening five races of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season and has quite a strong recent history at this week’s stop, Virginia’s Martinsville Speedway. Already, Brad Keselowski has a victory at Atlanta and Joey Logano at Las Vegas. Their young teammate, 25-year old Ryan Blaney, posted his best effort of the season two weeks ago – third place – at Phoenix’s ISM Raceway and answered with another top-10 on Sunday in California.
Tyler Reddick continues to remind the series why he’s the champ
Atop the NASCAR Xfinity Series driver championship standings following the fifth race of the season at Auto Club Speedway last weekend, sits the 2018 Xfinity champion, Tyler Reddick, with a seven-point lead over second-place Cole Custer. I watched both the Xfinity and Cup races this weekend. It looked like Kyle Busch was going to get his 200th win on Saturday in the Xfinity race, but Cole Custer took advantage of a Busch slip up and took the checkered flag. (more…)
In A Zone: Kyle Busch looks to scratch another record in the books
Kyle Busch takes a six-point edge over Joey Logano in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points standings as the series continues its “West Coast Swing.” And this week may be especially significant in the milestone category as Busch faces two chances to claim a historic 200 combined NASCAR national series wins. Kyle Busch got ever closer to Richard Petty’s 200 win totals by nabbing his first win of the season at Phoenix. It was what most people were expecting. Rowdy has been strong all season so far and he won the last Phoenix race, plus he won the Xfinity race the day before. (more…)
