(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted AZ Roofing Kids Night on Friday, May 30th, the first of three kids nights scheduled for the 2025 season. Keith Rocco was a SK Modified® winner for a second consecutive race, while Wayne Coury, Jr. won the Late Model feature, Chris Matthews won the SK Light feature, RJ Surdell won the Limited Late Model feature, and Bert Ouellette was a winner for the second time in 2025 in the Street Stock feature. There were two kids big wheel races with Memphis Genereux and Evan DaRos the winners.
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Race at Seekonk Speedway Postponed to Sunday Due to Weather
J&R Precast 150 Moved to Sunday, June 1, at 3 p.m. ET
SEEKONK, Mass. — Due to forecasted inclement weather, Seekonk Speedway and NASCAR officials announced today that the J&R Precast 150 & NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions will now race on Sunday, June 1 at 3 p.m.
The event will begin with NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying at 2:30 p.m., followed by qualifying heats for the Seekonk Late Models, Helger’s Sportsman and Sport Trucks.
Gloomy Forecast Forces Riverhead Raceway To Move Saturday Program To Sunday Implementing New Rain Date Policy
Entering the final weekend of what is one of the wettest months of May on record, Riverhead Raceway had been able to skirt the wet stuff, until now. Friday morning track management announced with a highly unfavorable forecast projected; they were moving the Saturday evening NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program to Sunday afternoon June 1st. The Local Sports League Team Night that was schedules for Sunday will also move to Sunday afternoon as well.
Jake Johnson Seeks Validation In JMA Motorsports’ Home Race at Seekonk Speedway

More than a year has passed since Jake Johnson brought Ole Blue back to Victory Lane on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, a win that arrived at Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire.
A lot has changed for Johnson since that day, but his commitment to winning in Modifieds remains unwavering. Now part-time in the series with JMA Motorsports, Johnson is set to make his second Modified Tour appearance with the program in Saturday’s J&R Precast 150 at Massachussets’ Seekonk Speedway.

Seven-Time ASA Champion Mike Eddy, 72, Passes Away
- A legend in the short-track racing world, Mike Eddy won 58 ASA National Tour events during his storied career.
Zach Evans from Racing America reports that short-track racing legend Mike Eddy, 72, passed away on Thursday morning, May 29, his family confirmed on social media.
Eddy is best known as a seven-time champion on the American Speed Association (ASA) National Tour, an all-time record in the series. His 58 wins with the series place him second only to Bob Senneker, and no one holds more ASA championships than “The Polar Bear.”

Another Smalltown Short Track Shuts Down in the Heart of Stock Car Racing Country
- The track opened in 1999 and held its first NASCAR race that year, but the past few years have been tough.
Ronan Glon of The Drive reports that another smalltown short track shuts down in the heart of stock car racing country.
The racing scene just lost another small-town track. North Carolina’s New River All American Speedway announced it has closed its doors.
“Over the last several weeks and months, we’ve had many discussions about the future of New River. Yesterday, we made the tough decision to close the doors,” the track said on its Facebook page. It stopped short of detailing the challenges it faced and why it decided to close.
