LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Team Penske’s Joey Logano became the first driver to secure a position in the Championship 4 with a shot at the NASCAR Cup Series 2022 Championship thanks to a valiant surge to victory in the final laps of Sunday’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Joey Logano may not have swept the Darlington races in 2022, but a strong showing in Sunday’s race was enough to put him atop the championship standings.
MOORESVILLE, NC (August 24, 2022) – Joey Logano, the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series Champion, and Team Penske have reached an agreement on a long-term contract extension that will keep the winning racer behind the wheel of the No. 22 Ford Mustang for years to come.
Unlike some of the other competitors at the end 220 miles at Watkins Glen on Sunday, Joey Logano was all smiles when he climbed from the No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford.
After starting the Go Bowling at The Glen from 20th, his win in the second stage and ultimate third-place finish felt like a triumph. (more…)
