The award celebrates the racing career and life of Jason Sheppard, longtime crew chief for Eric Goodale on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour who passed away suddenly in August.

That is the scenario awaiting Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville and Ron Silk of Norwalk heading to Riverhead Raceway for the Eddie Partridge 256 Saturday September 14th. Williamson, NY – (September 1, 2024) – Ron Silk of Norwalk, CT, drove to his first-ever Race of Champions Modified Series victory this past Friday night at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY, and it was in one of the most lucrative victories in the history of the Speedway, with over $54,000 in purse money for the Modified event. Silk took home $11,000 for his efforts in what is considered the best per lap for Modified racing in the region.
Silk started 5th and slipped past Jake Lutz of Hamburg, NY, on a restart when Lutz missed a shift. From that point Lutz pressured Silk all the way to the checkered flag, however, it was to no avail as Silk narrowly earned the victory.
Mike Rutkoski Turns Season Around With Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified Victory Saturday
NASCAR Modified talent Michael Rutkoski of Mattituck turned his 2024 season around Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway leading wire-to-wire to win the 50-lap First Responders Night event. Rutkoski has endured a rough season up until the calendar flipped from July to August, it was then the 2018 Crate Modified champion felt a shift in fortune that led to his 2nd career win Saturday.

New England’s Only NASCAR Weekend Moving to September and the Playoffs in 2025
LOUDON, N.H. – NASCAR roars back to Loudon in a big way in 2025 with New England’s only NASCAR weekend moving to the Playoffs Sept. 19-21, and the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) joining the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS). The NCS will kick off the Round of 12 while the NCTS drivers will battle it out to remain above the cut line for the Round of 8.
“The two questions fans ask me the most are ‘When are we getting a September race back?’ and ‘When are we getting the Trucks back?’, and now we have both,” said New Hampshire Motor Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager David McGrath. “We are so thankful to our loyal fans who have supported us during NASCAR’s annual summer stop in New Hampshire, but they wanted this, they deserve this, and we are ecstatic to not only be returning to the NASCAR Playoffs, but we are thrilled to host the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series as well.
Justin Bonsignore Looks For Another Oswego Triumph
With the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season down to the final six events, Justin Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team will head to Oswego Speedway this Saturday night. Race 11 of the season brings the team to New York, as the Whelen Modified Tour will run 150 laps as part of the Bud Classic weekend. The event will take place on Saturday, August 31 at 8 p.m.
Bonsignore leads the Whelen Modified Tour point standings by four markers over Ron Silk and is coming off two straight podium finishes. Bonsignore has finished inside the top-five in all but two races this season in the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Inc. Modified.
