Starting with the 2022 season the PRO4 Modified’s Of New England will end the two-division concept. Going forward the division will race as one division with rules to keep the competition tight and fun. Matt Hirschman captured a historic victory in Saturday night’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season-opener, the New Smyrna Visitors Bureau 200. Not only did the race mark the beginning of the 2022 NWMT season, but the race also marked the first ever NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at New Smyrna Speedway.

For the first time in his racing career, Hodgdon will strap in behind the wheel of a Tour-Type Modified next week. And it comes at one of the biggest events in all of Modified racing.
(Stafford Springs, CT)—When the grid for the first Spring Sizzler® took formation in 1972, a young kid from Maine lined-up on the pole. That kid was Bobby Turner, a 20-something year old driver who made the trip down from Maine to race against the top drivers in the northeast at the inaugural Spring Sizzler. Over 50 years later the same #85 modified that led the field to green in 1972 will pace the field for the 50th running of the NAPA Spring Sizzler, this time with Bobby’s son Pete behind the wheel in a tribute to his father who passed away in March of 2021.
