MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 17, 2021) – Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) announced today that 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. will pilot the No. 51 Tundra March 27 in the Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Truex’s Tundra will carry primary sponsorship from Auto-Owners Insurance, one of the nation’s largest insurers. Conventional wisdom suggested the General Tire 150 at Phoenix Raceway would apply some heat to the early ARCA Menards Series championship race.

Logano Left Puzzled After Runner-up Finish at Phoenix

Joey Logano didn’t lose the Instacart 500 at Phoenix Raceway because of a lousy last restart or a vibration. Logano admitted afterward that even if he had broken away from Martin Truex Jr. on the final restart, he would probably have been overtaken by Truex at some point during the run to the checkered flag.

Track Talk:  Phoenix Results for Drivers With New England Connections

Austin Cindric took Saturday’s Xfinity race at Phoenix. Bret Moffit came in ninth driving Cape Cod’s Chris Our entry, and Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT placed 15th.

In Sunday’s Cup race at PIR, Martin Truex, Jr. was the winner, and Joey Logano of Middletown, CT settled for another runner-up spot.  Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT ended up 26th.  Corey LaJoie, son of two-time Xfinity Series Champion Randy LaJoie (a Norwalk, CT native), was 27th after leading the grind in the early going!  Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT had another bad day crashing out and placing 37th.

The NASCAR Circus moves to the Atlanta Motor Speedway next weekend.

Tyler Leary heads into the 2021 season at Stafford Motor Speedway for what will be his 6th full-time season at the Connecticut half-mile.  Leary came to Stafford in 2016 as a Late Model driver and for the past 2 seasons he has pulled double duty, racing in both the premier SK Modified® division as well as the Late Model division.  For the 2021 season, Leary will forgo racing in the Late Model division to focus solely on his #1 Amherst Trucking SK Modified® car. You can’t find a better jewel in the desert than the Phoenix Raceway. The 1 mile, tri-oval shaped track is always a popular visit on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule. Phoenix Raceway hosts two events- this weekend and the season finale in November. The track recently went through major renovations making it one of the premier facilities on the circuit.
